Best way to break into my own car

I locked my car keys inside the car...what can I do?

What would be the best way to get in??
I used a coat hanger to get into my chevy impala...a long time ago...and it word fine...but on the 89 firebird...it looks really hard to do because of its door mechanism

Would it be hard to just break it with a screw driver?? and break it open and then just replace door lock set??
Whats the easiest/cheapest way to get my keys/car back?

call AAA, or use a brick

a service station might have the tools to open it, or a local cop.

Re: Best way to break into my own car

if the door mechanism is just like my 89 camaro you can easily break in by using a thin metal ruler and inserting it down the glass, inbetween the handle and key hole.

You'll beable to feel it come into contact with the rod that locks the car. Push down hard on it and it will unlock. takes some time to do it if its your first time. I've locked my keys in my car several times and always used the ruler to break in

Thirdgens are easy to break into.

Some say you can easily pick the rear hatch lock but i tried for awhile and couldnt do it

try prying the window out at the top where you can grab it with your hand and you should be able to pull it out enough to reach inside and unlock.

Re: Best way to break into my own car

go to a parts store and ask for a slim jim. its a thin piece of metal with hooks on the side. its about 10 bucks and is specificaly made for breaking into cars. it wont damage anything. or you can cut a piece of wire from a chain link fence, its easily pliable but is still much firmer than a coat hanger and you can get longer lengths

Makes most think you got Vats as when they got it, the glass light was moved to the wing. Illegal if ya don't but it back on somewhere else but might get em to move on.

Re: Best way to break into my own car

the way the wrecker guy did it is he pried out the very top of my driver's window, put in a plastic wedge, then used a straight rod with a right angle end on it to push the inside door lock slide. He went at it from the rear of the door. could use a stiff coathanger.

Re: Best way to break into my own car

I used a thick paint stir stick when my loving wife locked my keys in my 88 TA..... took all of 10 seconds to get in! Just find the rod and give it a suddle pop on the end of the stick and "ta-da" ...... it should open!

Ihad a dodge van and i locked my key in it. Called triple A. The guy pulls up and he's talking on a cell phone. Tells the person on the other end...hang on a sec I gotta do a lock out. He had my door open in less than 60 sec I could not believe it. I was shocked. why do we even lock our doors? Did what was decribed above.

Either the guy broke your lock or it was already open cause that's in no way possible.

I've got an idea...Let's publicly post to the WORLD about how best to break into our cars & help the thieves!

This thread should not only be LOCKED but DELETED, for anyone to ever even read.

Re: Best way to break into my own car

Get yourself a slim jim from the auto store they are amazing to have laying around. Anything 95 or older usually is a breeze to pop open. Some of the new cars are quite a bit more challenging. Never had to pop my iroc but i can open my tempo and my g/f's cavalier in a few seconds

Serously do you think an expirenced theif skims forums to break into cars. Half the time they bust a window, they don't nicely break in. Plus anything as old as our cars can be easily popped with a slim jim....

- Most slim Jims come with step by step instructions as well you should write the company .....
- Not trying to be a jerk... just trying to put that statment into persepctive.
