How should my pull down motor work?
I just recently got the hatch on my Firebird fixed so that I could actually open it. When I first opened the hatch I could not tell that the hatch motor was doing anything and I assumed that it was broken but I didn't worry about it because my hatch was shutting tight. Today when I opened the hatch the motor turned on for some reason. When I close the hatch it turns back off.
How is the hatch motor supposed to work? I've never been around any other third gens to know how the pull down should be working and I'm trying to figure out if mine is broke.

Re: How should my pull down motor work?
when you open the hatch, it lets go of the hatch and the motor goes up.
when you close the hatch, it grabs the hatch, and pulls down.
is this what your taking about?

Re: How should my pull down motor work?
I think it may help. When I release the hatch I can hear the motor start to run. It will run as long as the hatch is up. Then when the hatch is shut it immediately shuts off. It does not pull down on the hatch from what I can tell.
Re: How should my pull down motor work?
if you open the hatch, there is a black button thing right where the motor grabs the hatch, you can push down on this with your finger, and it should pull the motor down, but only after the motor is all the way up. and when you let go, it should make the motor go up.

Re: How should my pull down motor work?
Ok when the hatch is up the motor begins to run. When I push the button the motor turns off but it doesn't go down. It remains in the up position. I guess I need to get the stuff to rebuild it from Top Down Solutions.
Thanks for the help popballz.

Can't say that I know. Try searching under "hatch pull down" or something similar in the body section.
