STUPID QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey everybody,
I have a stupid question for you which I would like an answer. I've always wondered what is the purpose of hood pins. I think they look great, especially third gens, but what are they for?????? Thanks for the help.

Jon

Re: STUPID QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lighter and stronger. Lots of times fiberglass hoods need to be held down by more than just the latch in the center.

You usually can remove the hood latch when you install hood pins.

Re: STUPID QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't you take the hinges out and make it a lift-off. I thought that was the original purpose for hood pins?

Re: STUPID QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes. Same situation for the hinges. Some fiberglass hoods aren't strong enough to hold the bolts for the hinges.

Re: STUPID QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would agree.
I put mine on cause my car was wrecked and the hood dosen't close quite right.
But on a race car it's extra hold on the sides of the hood, or if the latch has been removed. Or like you even stated if it's a lift off hood.
I would also agree in a high speed application they will help keep a fiberglass hood in one piece.

Re: STUPID QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW!!! Neil, that's one crazy car you have there. Thank for the pics...very much appreciated. I have a couple of more questions for you if you dont mind.
1) your rims, are they 18s or 19s?
2) which lowering kit did you use to get that ride height?
3) I've never seen the add-on front spoiler like that. Is it hand made???? If not, which company makes it?

Keep up the great work!!!!!
