Sound to me like you need to get a latch from an 89 that will fit your new bracket. I don't really know what else we can do for you.
I could wiggle my nose and wave my magic wand but I've been told that doesn't work long distance.

man if you can put those doors on you sure should not have a problem with a trunk.
nice ride - very nice ride.
at time you have to stick with what you have when it comes to things like trunk hatches.

Any 1986-early 91 pull-down unit will work for you. Here's how to easily tell. Those years of pull-down unit have a metal frame where it bolts to the bracket on the car with 3 screws. You can't use the late 91-92 style that has a tan-colored plastic frame that bolts to the bracket.

here are the pics of wat im dealing with

lock with pull down that doesnt fit or work i guess the people welded the bracket so it would just shut instead of buying a new motor

and here you can see how it doesnt line up at all

The purple mount is for a late 91-92. The pull-down unit you have is the earlier style. You'll need to either cut out the purple mounting piece and get the correct 86-early 91 style or get a late 91-92 pull-down unit and hatch hook. The wiring is different for each style too.
Here's what a late 91-92 pull-down unit looks like:
