Is this normal?

To have a 1/4" gap between the t-top weatherstripping and the body weatherstripping?

I put the body weatherstripping from my old 85 TA on my new one because it was in better shape and never noticed it having the gap before the swap.

Needless to say, it leaks

Re: Is this normal?

Thanks, I seen the T-top strips on eBay for $79, I may check in on that. I didn't think something was right...and I really can't wash my car like I want to right now.

Glad I have a carport to store it under.

Actually 1a has them on eBay for $63 shipped.

Re: Is this normal?

THere are two different types of weatherstrip for third gens. The first type went from 1982- 1991 and mid year (probably around august) they changed over to a newer better style of weatherstrip.

The tops are not interchangeable from one style of weatherstrip to the other, and if you purchased a complete window/T-top weatherstrip kit from GM you got the newer style. And you have to convert the entire car over to work properly.

It does not appear that this is the problem, but I wanted to make you aware of it. It almost appears that the rear part of the weatherstrip on the Top is hitting on the rear part of the body weatherstrip by the way it looks crushed, and the front is not making contact at all. This leads me to believe that your weatherstrip is shifted to the rear for some reason.

It has been so long since I looked at my original weatherstripping that I am not sure if it is movable...

I am not sure if I was a help or not...

I Ordered from A1 on eBay and it's on it way. Now you need to cut me a killer deal on the T-top body weatherstrip...that's all I have left to buy. I got the door strips from you guys a month ago.

Thanks for the reply, it's just as short on both ends...almost like it's not the right length

I'll replace the t-top strips when they come in and see if that helps. The one that's on my car is real hard and brittle so either way the new strips will help.

Re: Is this normal?

Ok got my new inner stripping in today...it's longer than whats on my car so it should seal like it's supposed to

Does anyone have a good source for the outer stripping, the part in my pic that hangs over the glass? I didn't see it on 1A's website. I guess they are called T-Top seal strips.
