Weather stripping... you gotta be kidding me!

Both of my Firebirds could use door weather stripping.

I found a GM dealer OEM site, $175 a side.... wow!

FOR A PEICE of RUBBER that DRIES and DIES....oh man.

Another aftermarket site, $89 (a side, or both don't know probably a side) wow!

Can ANYONE point me to good fitting door weather stripping for a FAIR price?

My guess is the bone yard is probably STRIPPED! (no pun intended) Of these peices.

Re: Weather stripping... you gotta be kidding me!

Which pieces are you talking about? The window sweeps? I just bought a pair of GM pieces for $75. Or is it the door seals? I just got a GM pair of those for $60.

Re: Weather stripping... you gotta be kidding me!

Well if you are truly asking, I need both.

I was originally asking about the door seals.

Can you hook me up with where you got them from?

Was it a website?

Thank you, for sure.

Re: Weather stripping... you gotta be kidding me!

Are you telling me only one person on this board had to replace these door seals?

Bump.

Look up lonestarcarparts on ebaymotors they sell a 12pc kit for $299 and change plus shipping I'm thinking of buying because it has the window sweeps inner and outer ,door roof seals ,door seals ,hatch seal ,hood seal ,and two others I can't remember all in one kit and other places $60 plus for just the outer sweeps and around $100 for the door seals .

Re: Weather stripping... you gotta be kidding me!

I've used original GM and aftermarket sweeps from Hawks and 1AAuto. Couldn't tell a difference among the different sets I've used. Probably installed half a dozen over the years. Even with the OEM I still had to drill a few of the mounting holes as they don't exactly line up with what's there.

I also picked up a set of the door weather stripping from 1AAuto a few years back. They didn't have the hard plastic inside the molded ends. The ends had to be secured with weatherstripping adhesive, but they've held up fine with no issues.

I used the GM window sweeps and like said above i did have to dremel out a few of the holes.

I also used Metro Moulded Door frame seals. Not the best but i used some 3M weatherstrip adheisive and they seem to be OK. I should have used GM door seals.

FYRCHKN---

Nice job on your paint job by-the-way.

I just got done reading through you post in this section.

Can't believe you accomplished that with a Wagner!

Not bad for $120 job.

Re: Weather stripping... you gotta be kidding me!

Ok.

I changed my mind. I was going to steal most of the door parts (rubber and seals) from one Firebird and use towards the other, but after seeing what FYRCHKN accomplished painting his car himself, I decided I was going to paint my 88 instead and keep it. It isn't in bad shape, but I planned to use it as a parts car, namly for the interior and door parts (all the door/window seals).

So to make a lond story shorter - My 91 needs all the seals for the doors. None on the body. No window seals and such. Just every seal that is on the doors. Except maybe the wire harness seal between door and body.

Where can I find THAT kit? For both doors.

Here is my problem (yes that cd sleeve is holding up the window):

And these are my two 'Birds:

Thanks guys!!

Re: Weather stripping... you gotta be kidding me!

Any more info?

Come on guys, this is a common thing I am sure of it.

There has to be more suppliers than that, and if it is GM parts, who has the website with the cheapest price?

Bump.

Re: Weather stripping... you gotta be kidding me!

If your good friends with a pro body shop ask them to order them for you. The shop that did my paint gave me 30% off GM's price!

Another minnesotan! Check out the midwest region board.

The other 2 seals are the triangle seals that cost around $30 a set.

Re: Weather stripping... you gotta be kidding me!

I found some good deals for seals ...and other PARTS on Ebay.

I am FINALLY relaxed now.

I have a car that has NO rust, BUT like I always heard....

...Southern cars are nice, body wise,

...but the interiors and rubber, is shot.

Well where I save without replacing body panels,

...I will spend in tid bit parts.

Oh well, I will trade.

I hate RUST!

Thanks Naf,

Most of the weatherstrip that we carry is either from metro or original GM.
