Paint idea... Should I go for it or not..?
Hi all,
I have finally got the Fiero GT wing for my 83 Trans Am... I seen one on another Trans Am and fell in love with the look... well the wing is white in color and when I painted my Trans Am about 7 years ago I saved some paint in hopes that if I got a nose piece or a new spoiler I would have enough paint to make it match my car.. I worked for a auto parts store and custom mixed my paint... the formula originally started out as Mercedes Benz Black Gold... long story short... Paint is dried up and I'm going to just repaint the car all together.. after all acrilic enamel only last so long... I'm thinking of going with basecoat clear. Dupont chromabase. so my question is... should I just go with gm black or should I paint her up with black pearl or change the color all together... I will be eliminating the gold stipe along the bottom. Just tired of it... but heres a pic of it..

Thanks for the suggestions ahead of time..

Both blacks are very nice. Black birds are beautiful if you ask me so I tend be bias in that direction. But I'd go with GM black and with a clear and nice turtle wax she'll shine like the sun. But than again, thats just my .02. Any bigger pics with the new spoiler?

I just got the spoiler today... I'll be test fitting it tomorrow... but I've got a little work to do to it... its a new to me spoiler... the car it came off of had some heavy oxidation going on... I've got to sand it down and seal it.. then paint... but will post some pics of the test fitting... I really hate to think about drilling four more holes in the hatch... may run to the junkyard this weekend and look for a spoilerless bird...

Wow now I know where my new wing came off of, I bought it last fall advertized from a wrecker as an IROC Highrise, when it arrived I looked at it and put it away with my other rebuild parts.
Went to fit it about 3weeks ago after removing the arrow wing and doing some body work and realized suddenly that this was not an Iroc wing (DUH).
But thought it looked good regardless but had no Idea what it was off, but was going to use it. Mine is still slightly different as the supports are long and tapered extending right to the rear wind glass.
Now I know at least where it came from, thanks for the posting.

I'd like the spoiler better if the sides extended closer to the quarter panel. It'd look a lot more like a high-rise camaro spoiler, but still have the nicely angled back edge and be a little bit lower.

Re: Paint idea... Should I go for it or not..?
Today I've gotten to work on the T/A a bit... filled in the old spoiler mount holes with fiberglass, sanded and applied a bit of body filler to make certain it will not look like holes were there before... It will be a few hours before I can sand the filler down before I prime the lid... Hopefully it will look as good as I think it will when finished... fingers crossed..

You actually should have welded up the holes grinded them down and then applied the filler. The filler may crack at some point.

Re: Paint idea... Should I go for it or not..?
I agree that welding the holes up would have been better. but I do not have access to a welder at this present time... I have never had any problems with fiberglass cracking however and what little filler I used should not give me any problems. Thanks for the concern though and if I do have any problems with it I will weld it in...

Re: Paint idea... Should I go for it or not..?
it's a nice spoiler, but i can't get over the large gap between the quarter panel and the sides of the spoiler. It really looks like it needs either shorter feet to drop it down or longer side extensions to eliminate that gap.
