Who's got an orange car?
I've been pondering on what color I want to paint my car. After seeing the 100 dollar tractor paintjob i'm sold on it and wanna try it. Now i've been thinking silver and black but with that paint I cant. I'd like to paint it black, but someone suggested a burnt orange. I wasnt too sold on that either, but after some thinking and seeing a burnt orange mustang with black lettering last night, I believe it looks pretty good.
So how many of yall have copper paintjobs on your camaros and firebirds?
The paint i'm looking at only offers kubota orange and alice chalmers orange. I belive i'm going to have to darken it a lil bit to get the color I want, but who has an orange one that I can compare to?
Thanks
-Scott

Re: Who's got an orange car?
Also those of you who have painted your own cars, how much paint did you use and how many coats did you lay?
Re: Who's got an orange car?
I paid around three 300-350 ish when I painted my 86 mustang. I did by the factory color paint though. That include the paint, reducer, hardner, clear coat and clear coat hardner. I did use the urethane, not enamel. Right after it got done I cop backed into the front
, but still it wasnt bad for a first try, not pefrect by any means though. We did three coats base, and clear.

If your changing colors, I suggest you take it to someone who knows what they are doing. its a lot of work to do it right that way. Unless you dont care about your door, hatch, and hood jams or the engine bay all being a different color when you open them. Even if you do a good job people will think its crappy if they see that when you open the hood or doors. But there again, the only person who has to be happy withit is you. About 3coats should do you. Main thing is take your time. prep work is the most important thing!!!

prep is the main part of anything..
Im thinking of changing colors but i'm not sure yet.. If i paint it another color, i'll probally do it during the motor change.. or leave the engine bay black..

Well my plan was to do a two tone with black on top and atomic orange on the bottom. But I decided that Im just going to do Atomic Orange on the whole thing, with black rims, tinted windows, blacked out markers and tail lights. Im trying to decide whether to do a single stripe, maybe a stripe on the sides of my SS hood, or just paint the whole hood scoop black. Still deciding on that part of it, cars in the shop, it should be gettin primed late this week, then comes a butt load of wet sanding

Now that's obviously photoshoped but I think that color would look awesome on a 87-90 trans am gta check out http://www.paintwithpearl.com/ the pic with the go kart body that keeps changing from before/after pearl, I think that color would look awesome on a trans am but not so great on a Camaro as a trans am has a lot more curves to show off all those different shades of orange.
