Does this matter a lot?

hey guys... recently ive been looking for a nice third gen camaro to buy...
i came across this (its a '87 IROC-Z wuth only 57,000 miles, and it has the 5.7, and t-tops for a price that is in my range)... anyway, i asked for more pics and when i got one of the front of the car it looked a bit beat up (i asked him if it was a in a accident but he said he wasnt sure and that the previous owner took it part of it apart since he hit a curb, and didnt put it back together correctly) anyway the front of the hood doesnt look like it aligns properly with the body or the other way around... look at the pics and tell me if u think it was in an accident or maybe he actually didnt put it back right

Re: Does this matter a lot?

mhmmm idk what to tell you it really could go both ways. it looks like it was put on wrong but if you look at the whole picture the trunk seems out of alignment. it may b the angle of the pic but the exhaust looks uneven (maybe just installed un even) but from the side shot it doesnt seem to be hit where it did any frame damage.

Re: Does this matter a lot?

I'm just kidding, but it is def. tweeked. Actually, I have seen a couple of different cars that were actually rolled and they were comparable to that. A girl I dated rolled her cavaleir in a parking ramp, and I was in a truck that rolled. After a new rear and side windows, you wouldn't think the truck was actually rolled. Anyway, to me it's pretty obviouse what happend with that camaro. It looks like they rear ended someone, then they were rear ended by the person behind them in traffic. Thats my guess. Please excuse spelling.

Re: Does this matter a lot?

It does look as if someone beat the crap out of it... I'd want to take it for a spin - see how well it holds a line and what kind of rattles or noises it makes.

Re: Does this matter a lot?

ok so i called him tonight and he said that the previous owner was a kid who didnt know what he was doing and put it together wrong.. he said it wasnt in an accident before except for hitting the corner of a high curb... he said it should be easy fix... but thing is he lives 7 hours from me and it would kinda suck to drive that far to find out it cant drive good...
anyways, thanks guys for the replies

Re: Does this matter a lot?

he's full of crap. that car is about as straight as half of san francisco! that right rear tail light bolts right into metal, yet it slopes with the height of that rear quarter in correlation to the hatch, you can NOT mis align the tail lights.. TRUST me. also judging by the corners of the front cover and the obvious gaps in the fenders, they hit someone sqaure on, bent the impact bar back and pushed the front frame rails out, probably was drunk and hit a pole or a tree, why the hell would you need to remove your bumpers after hitting a curb? further more, if its so damn easy to fix, why doesnt he take the hour to fix it and make his sale 10 times easier? why? frame damage, he can't, if you buy it, prepare for ALOT of expensive work.

Re: Does this matter a lot?

If the thing runs and drives, you could always offer him some rediculously low price for the heck of it. He'll prob say no thanks, then in a month or so he call you out of the blue and tell you he'll give it to you for that low price. I've had that happen to me before, only it was a 2 gen firebird. He called like three weeks later out of the blue and left a message on my message machine at home saying "well if you want to come out here and pick it up I let you have it for $500" By that time I didn't want it.

Re: Does this matter a lot?

T-top 350 ?? Did they ever made one of those? If you go look at it, be sure to read the tech specs on this site for info on the tach colors, badges, serial number code for a 350, under hood decals, and the console for the engine code.

Re: Does this matter a lot?

yes it did, it was 350 and a convertible that was never factory made (well I read on here before that a couple were made but it was never a mass produced option) I had an 87 Iroc with a 350 and t-tops a while back. It was rusty though so I parted it out. I would probably stay clear of that one though because if the previous owners' engine skills are anything like their body working skills you will probably regret it after everything is sorted out and working correctly.
