My 'new' 1991 Z28

...picked it up 4/22/10 near Nashville... for $1500!! 1991 Z28 with 305 TPI/auto. All options except G92 and whatever comes with it.

Has a little damage on the d/s rear quarter, but nothing we can't fix.

As far as I can tell, the paint is 100% original. It was missing the seats and carpet, but unless I'm not seeing something, everything else is there.

Here are some of the car as she sits now:

[edit]No, the hood is not latched in the pics...

Pretty good shape.

Why doesnt it have seats and carpet?

Kind of odd for those things to be missing from a driver...

It was a driver, but has spent the last 2 years in a garage. The P/O said the seats and carpet were in poor shape and they were chucked with the plan of eventually putting 4th gen seats in, but that never happened. It needed a battery and a radiator to run; Seems to run fine! The P/O started taking it apart to refinish it and I think life just got in the way. Nice guy, sold it because of a new baby coming very soon.

All in all, it actually is ok to me, because at least I saw the floorpans BEFORE purchasing and could verify their shape.

Good point about the floor pans, I guess that makes sense, lol.

Just seemed weird.

What's really funny about it is my wife's reaction - We picked it up 4/22 but it sat in my boss's enclosed trailer until yesterday so my wife hadn't seen it completely until then... I showed her these pics last night and she didn't say much... that was until she realized it was a picture of MY car! She then went down into the garage to verify that it was really in that good of shape! I got a kick out of it - This may just be the first Camaro I've owned that she'll want to get in and take on a drive.

Ummm, what about the side skirt that's missing under the door? (also the rear bumper extension?) Did those come with it as well? Regardless of the missing pieces it was still a really good deal.

I just paid $1600 for my '91 RS about 2 months ago. Even though mine was a turn-key car, I still would've rather had a Z28 with the Tuned Port Injection.

Yeah, the sideskirt and the rear 1/4 part came with 'em. I think the P/O was checking for rust or something. Not quite sure.

I've given the car a thorough look for rust and have spotted a couple areas, but nothing major or structural. I couldn't figure out why there was a spot in the INSIDE above the wheel well that was rusty; That was, until I noticed the amp ground wire that was attached right in that area. Isn't electrolysis fun!?

I scored some 2000 seats last night for $50 (with DS power!) so I'll get this puppy on the road again here soon.

Wow, $50 for 2K seats is a steal,.....especially with the D/S being powered.

I'm looking for a set of black C5 Vette seats for mine. They also have the 6-way powered driver seat, but I'm sure I'll probably end up paying more than $50 for 'em.

Yeah, I would like something a little different, I almost forgot how uncomfortable the 4th gen seats are, but hey, for $50 for a full set (considering, too, that I didn't have ANY seats before) is a really good deal. The DS seat is torn, but I plan on reupholstering them anyway.

I've gotta find a 4th gen wire plug from the 4th gen car to make the power seat work. However used the seat last must have been short 'cause it is wayyy too far forward!

Sitting in the car last night (with seats, LOL) I had a chance to take it all in - The dash is absolutely pristine, the body is in great shape, and even the paint is almost perfect I still can't believe I got it for so cheap. I mean, I only paid $1500; I paid $2400 for my '87 IROC that was in no where near this good of shape! I've never really been the kind of guy where a car HAS to live in the garage, but this one is too nice after 19 years to leave it sit outside. As you can see, my 1 car garage is packed, and my 2nd dirtbike is actually in the basement bedroom now, but it will work for now.

I will ultimately have an LS1/2 in it with a 6 speed. Although the body looks as good in person as it does in the pics, I've found a few areas of rust that will need attention. I'll post some pics next time I get the car out of the garage.

Nice find! Where in Nashville was the car located and how did you find out about it? Just curious.

Craigslist. I used www.searchtempest.com to search a bigger area. I was looking at what was labelled a 92 Z28 the day before I found this one - Turns out the VIN showed a 92 RS. Since I knew I wanted a Z28, that wouldn't work. Searched Craigslist and found this one towards Murfreesboro.

Re: My 'new' 1991 Z28

Its better than eBay for a couple reasons -

#1: You can search nationally with www.searchtemptest.com
#2: You actually get to inspect the car in person before a deal is FINAL
#3: No fees associated with the sale
#4: Communication is usually much easier with the seller

I'm hoping something takes down eBay one day - I'm so sick of it; There aren't really any screaming deals on it anymore and listing anything is just a waste of time/money.
