door handles. need pics!

Ok guys, I'm thinking of changing my door handles and would like to see as many pics as possible! I was originally thinking of going chrome. I still might want to do that but im not sure. I would like to see pics of black cars with chrome door handles.

Also, I heard that the fourth gen door handles are a direct fit for our cars. If anybody has any pics of fourth gen handles on a third gen, I would love to see those as well. If they are chrome on a black car, even better.

Opinions are welcome but I really want to see lots of pics! Thanks!

I believe you get to the nut toward the front of the door with the window up and the one at the back with the window down. Unclip the rod with the window down too if I remember right. Do a search on this site, they have covered about everything.

Take door panel off with window up (don't quote me on that) remove the rods from the plastic clips on the handle, then with a 1/4" wrench take off the nuts on the back of the handle. There are two of them.

Hey man, haven't talked to you in awhile, how is everything going? I have an idea u might wanna try to test and see if u want chrome or not. Oreillys carries a chrome paint now, you can tape off ur handles and give them a quick shot to see if u like it. If u don't paint em black again. If ur are just wanting to actually paint the handles chrome make sure u sand the handles down really good. Even has a mirror finish too it, I used it on the inside of my ZR1 wheels to give it a little "bling"

I can barely see the clip and cannot figure how it comes off...without breaking it..the bolts are easy....but there isn't much space....would taking the glass out be too hard?

Not at all! If the glass have never been takin out it should be rivited in still. It just pops out of the clip and then rotate it and pull the rod out

Re: door handles. need pics!

Hey whats up 92z28camarokid! Ive been busy with all my projects but lovin it. Well I dont want to paint them chrome, I would like them to be actual chrome if I go that route. I may go with black if I dont like the way the chrome looks.

But I also want to see pics with fourth gen handles on third gen cars! At this point, I would like to see them in any color on any color of car, just to see how much better they look. But I would really like to see them on a black car and in either chrome or black handles if at all possible.

Come on guys, help me out here! I need some visuals for inspiration and I know there are some of you who have the pics I want. Lets see 'em!!! Lots of pics of chrome handles, and also any other color of fourth gen handles on your rides!

Or, if you prefer black handles, Show me your best pics of those too! Thanks!

Here's a crappy pic before I put the interior back in but these are 4th gen handles and I shaved the lock cylinders.

You might fancy something like this...perhaps

90-94 Lumina have simliar handles built into the pillar and are relatively cheap..found some for about 40 bucks at the link:

http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/de...QQC462144.html

Or..these..C6 'vette..cost about three times as much though..

http://www.zip-corvette.com/ProductDetails/StyleMasterDetails.aspx?pid={ceb99ec1-2a33-4ce6-aaae-68b2a561db2e}&gid={2e97c16a-cc48-44af-8201-bc04c9345149}&GroupName=Door+Handles+%26+Spoilers&pname=05-10+Painted+Door+Handle+Covers&Referer=&Alias=&ptct=SGR-SR&CTitle=&

Either cleans up the door panel quite a bit without shaving the locks all together..

Re: door handles. need pics!

4th gens are a direct bolt in, they're just more of a smooth finish (no indent). I plan on going that route myself for a cheap upgrade.

if I could fab, i'd definitely go with the early 90s C/K truck handles. they are flush and seem to follow the car's lines pretty well. seen photos around here somewhere......

Those handles would be sweet but with out an upper door frame I don't see how you could make them work, also I had a cutlass supreme and so did a friend of mine and my brother did too and between the 3 of us we replaced 4 of those handles so they are not very good quality.
