i had my very first crash yesterday and smacked a telephone poll
i need to know which fenders or hoods,,,doors,,,or front ends will fit onto a 1989 rs camaro convertible
is it just other 1989 rs camaro's? or will any third gen fit?
just a question to save me money

82-92 Camaro fenders fit 82-92 Camaros & 82-92 Firebird fenders fit 82-92 Firebirds.

But the early rears can give you a little trouble mounting ground fx, so try for 86+ fenders.

All the Camaro doors will match and 86+ front ends will match.

Yes. All 82-92 Camaro hoods fit all 82-92 Camaros & all 82-92 Firebird hoods fit all 82-92 Firebirds.

The years don't matter, only the presence, or lack of, ground fx matters. Even if the new fender doesn't have any? It only a matter of drilling holes & the ground fx will cover it all up anyways, so nobody will ever see the old holes.

 

you'll want a 90 and older fender with the correct slots for the front ground effect. 91-92 is different. also, you will need to trim the end near the door and reweld the convertible bracket to the fender. you'll trim 6-8 inches of metal from the back half of the fender. hoods are all the same, any will do 82-92. doors are mostly the same, make sure you get a camaro door or you might have to drill holes to fit your ground effects correctly.

 

i dont understand the part you are talking about the fender and convertible top also all i need is the front fenders hood and front end ALSO WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO IF I WANT THE 92 Z28 GROUND FX

 

ive got a pair of new fenders at my dads house, for a pre 90 car. where they mount to the side ground effects about the RS emblems, the convertible has a boxed frame along the side of the car, which gets in the way of a normal fender, so they had to cut both front fenders and add brackets to them from asc, so you will need to remove the brackets from the old fenders, mark and cut the new fenders and put the brackets on the new fenders. as fas as the years of the fenders, the 1991-1992 fenders have 2 slots to mount the front fround effect, the 90 and older have 2 holes i believe, they will only fit to the correct ground effect. to put the new gfx on the car you'll need to get the 91-92 front fenders, and the 8 91-92 specific pieces for the kit. the front ground effect, the rockers and door pieces, rear 1/4 extentions and full rear bumper. can get costly for a good kit. or just do the front and sides but the rear wont look right. the convertible section should have all the info you need.

 

does that go the same for the 88 iroc-z28

i kno but about 4 years ago my dad had to replace his 88 iroc hood and he said that a 87 or 89 wouldent fit

 

any iroc/Z28 hood is the same, 85-92 Z28's were all the same hood. if it has removable louvers or blisters it will fit any year

 

If he tried a Firebird hood, then no. If he used a Camaro hood, then there is no way to say this nicely....He did something wrong.

a non Z28 hood will fit on a z28. the appearance is the only difference. Yes a non convert. fender will fit on a convert. ground effect mounting just wont be on the fender. make it fit dont know what else to say.

 

a berlinetta doesent make any exception does it?

 

kinda get why no one has replied but i just want to make sure before i spend money on an 82 berlinetta that the fenders match like the rest of the camaro's

 

go for it i hope they aren't charging you too much?? the only thing you will have to figure out is ground efx mounting. shouldn't be that hard.

 

Like said above if you get fenders off a non vert car they will need to be cut to clear the braces that were installed by asc.An 82 Berlinetta hood will fit without a problem

 

Third Gen Ranch just had some convertible fenders I believe.

getting the car for 300 its non op 1 owner fresh interior rear end collision but back window is all good stil and its stil runs.

 

The later hoods fit better then the earlier one IMO.

In other words, the front trailing edge on the '88 and up hoods is sharper and fits better then the earlier hoods with less gap on the front bumper.
