Re: 92 fron lower lip help
I think you are referring to the black piece between the radiator air dam and the very front lip - it's basically like a cover of sorts, I don't think it has an real function (other than scraping the driveway
) Mine is kinda bulbeous (for lack of a better term) and bows downwards kinda - thus it always scrapes the driveway - I always worry it's the chin spoiler scraping on my car, but it's that plastic piece.

camaronewbie your talking about the air-dam? it helps with cooling. you will notice a fair bit of difference in temp if you didn't have it.

Re: 92 fron lower lip help
No - not the air dam. There is a plastic covering under the front of the car, between front lip and the air dam - that's what I'm referring to - and I thought the OP was referring to.
I know the air dam itself is critical and quite neccessary!

Re: 92 fron lower lip help
The air dam does not support body work. It directs air up to the radiator.
Can you post a pic of what // where it broke?
If just the plastic mounting clip(s) that holt the lip up broke, check a local u-pull-it type place, or take a good 1 to your local auto parts store & see if they have them.

Re: 92 fron lower lip help
I don't think that plastic piece affects the "shape" of the front chin spoiler, at least not much if it does. I'd say, install your chin spoiler, then hunt down another 3rd gen, park side by side, and look under to see if theirs looks much different than yours. Also, take a highway run - have someone else drive your car, while you drive another car, and see if the presssure of highway speeds affects the shape while accellerating.
If it appears to be a concern for you, you can always, if nothing else, go to a arts/crafts store, and buy a plastic portfolio that would be large enough to cut your own piece out of, might cost you $15, and make your own piece.

Re: 92 fron lower lip help
the part your talking about will have an effect . not on cooling but appearence . over a period of time the front GFX will start to droop . the duct panel (for lack of a better word) does support the front GFX . you may be able fashion a couple of fore & aft supports to keep it in line . i have seen some made from PVC pipe . i said i have seen it done , i have not done it . if you can find another , even with the holes torn out . it can be used with new nuts & bolts with large washers . this i have done with good results . whatever you do , good luck .

Re: 92 fron lower lip help
Geez, is it so hard to hit spell check, or better yet, pay attention to basic spelling and grammar rules in school?
You certainly aren't the world's bast, that's why we have spell check. Learn to use it, tired of reading incoherent posts on this site.

I think I have to agree with puma.
I´m not a native english speaker and trying to make sense of posts like the first can be quite a daunting task.
The problem there is that it´s missing some of these: ..........
Some of these ????
And maybe some basic grammar. Where do sentences stop, where do new ones start. Capitals are not only big cities, they also are a great help in helping others understand what you´re trying to communicate.
As to the question at hand, the part is called "front fascia reinforcement" which exactly describes what it does.
The material used to manufacture the front fascia or nosecone is somewhat old fashioned, which is no surprise given that these cars are over 20 years old by now. The nosecone is flexible up to a certain degree, and to prevent it from deforming too much under highway speeds the nosecone received a reinforcement panel. Some modern plastics would be able to support this shape as well as be flexible up to this degree. Back in the 80´s the inability of the plastic used to support it´s own shape was solved by adding a backing plate that supports the shape.
(Question. Do the early 3rd gen Camaros have this reinforcement panel as well? I do not see it in any of the repair manuals. Only for later third gen camaros)
A fiberglass nosecone would not require the reinforcement, but would also not be able to withstand impacts of any kind without being damaged.
Replacing the plastic part by for instance a small brace made of small metal rods in a V shape woud work, but also form a serious hazard in case of an accident (especially when pedestrians are involved). If yours is broken, best find a replacement
