Paint Opinions? Keep Firebird gloss blue or go flat satin black? (Pics)
Recently my car was vandalized. Filed my claim and got cut a pretty good check, I'm thinking about maybe repainting the entire car to a flat satin black. What do you guys think?
Here is my car now:

And here is what I might change it to:

I think if I got it painted with the flat I would for sure I have to tint the windows and get black rims for it to look complete. Here is the vandalism if you're interested:

Keyed allllll over the car. And they tore the gas cap lid off...

Flat black just looks like a primered piece of crap, especially on a 20 year old car.
Keep it blue, cars were meant to have glossy paint.

I like the matte black color, but not on our cars. Generally that color looks good on mostly very organic vehicles (BMW's, Lamborghini's, Porches, etc). Considering our cars are quite boxy, the light doesn't reflect well with the color. Nice color, but I'd suggest sticking with the color you have now and redoing it.

I'm with those guys. If it were a race car that saw little street time the satin black would be fine. The blue on your car is pretty cool looking too.

I'd go back to the original color...whatever that was. Possibly the Pontiac equivalent of Quasar Blue?

I personaly love the black/black look with everything black......but on your car i would throw some black wheels and a dark tint and it would looks killer.I have yet to see a flat black/hot rod black on a 3rd gen that looks great.

Keep the blue. It looks good on your car. Flat/satin black looks unfinished.

IMO,this car you posted would be perfect except it really needs to be "gloss black" to give it a finished look.Stay blue (it looks really good by the way)or go gloss black with these wheels.

Go satin black!! everything looks good satin IMO

Re: Paint Opinions? Keep Firebird gloss blue or go flat satin black? (Pics)
I like the blue better than the satin black. It looks so good just like it is in the picture. If you just want a black third gen then I would go with the gloss black for that Knight Rider look. Like it's been said earlier, the flat black makes the car look unfinished, or like it's waiting to be buffed out.
Take a little time to decide which way you want to go and then post some pics for us to see. In the end bro, do what you want to do. It's your car. Be happy with your choice as we will be too.

blue. satin is a fad that will fade. beautiful paint is timeless.
besides, do you know how HARD it is to get a good satin job? probably the most difficult paint job to paint right and keep it looking nice

As promised here are a bunch of pictures. I honestly took your guys' advice over anyone else. All my friends were trying to convince me to go flat, but I kept her blue. Pictures:

I was going to go Satin Black cause I love the color. However, After talking to a few of y dad's friends that paint cars for a living they say it is the most difficult paint job to get done right. They said 8 out of 10 come out looking horrible. So I had him do mine gloss black. I LOVE IT!
