How did I wind up with this camaro? Lol
Well I now own an 86 Camaro base model with a supposedly 355 and a built transmission. I think its really got a 305 LOL.
Anyway heres the story, I texted 2 guys off craigslist. One had a 4 cylinder foxbody mustang that had been swapped to a v8. The other guy had a rough camaro. Both were wanting about $1500 for their cars. I decided against the camaro because the fuel pump was bad and the floor pan on the driverside had holes in it.
Well i thought for the last 3 days I was setting up an arrangement to meet the guy with the mustang (their numbers are the exact same except for the last 4 numbers!) and what happens? I drive a hundred miles and theres that camaro...
At first I was confused.. I thought this was a mustang? I just realized what happened and remembered the mustang was about another 80 miles north of where I was and the day was almost over. I was angry, but my wife encouraged me to re-look at the car. After all I just wanted another project car and either one was going to wind jup with an ls1 t56 combo.
So i made a decision and told the guy, $800 and you take the car and drop it off at my house with your rollback. He was going for it, but he eventually caved and we made a deal. We both knew the car needs work, but it has potiential and thats something the guy didnt care so much about.
So after he dropped the car off, within 35 minutes, I had the car running and driving. Runs good but still needs some work. Other than the rust, the trashed interior, and the wiring mess under the hood, its not that bad. Ill post some pics later on today.
I do have one question though. The body looks perfectly straight besides the hood that flew up, but I ran a carfax and it shows that the car was in a right front impact in 98, but I cant find any damage? Is it still worth dumping my next couple years paychecks into it? Or just get another project car?
Thanks for reading.

As far as the front impact: Believe your eyes, not a piece of paper.
Sounds like you got a good deal.

If it was repaired correctly you should never be able to tell. front impact could have just been cosmetic and not structural, maybe just the front clip, and the support was never touched. Look along both aprons and the radiator support for traces of repair work, good luck

It was fate that brought you to the car.

It might sound crazy, but I think you may be right. Im very sorry guys, but I didn't go out and take the pictures as I promised, but here is a picture of it just off the rollback. Ill be pulling the interior tomorrow (my day off) and see how bad the floor rust really is, so there will be good pics!
I also checked the block and its a 350 block, Score!

Looks pretty good from the pics except for some of the things you mentioned. THe fact that it has a 350 in it is just another kicker! THat will mean more money in pocket when you go to sell it after the LS1 swap!

Here are some more pics of the car before I started ripping the interior out. I should have some of the rust shots shortly.
