Rear window louver questions???

Hello all I have a good question. Since rear window louvers were an factory option (DE1).

What is the GM part# for them?

There is a different louver for 1986 compared to 1991/92 because of the location of 3rd brake light. Since the brake light is mounted on the outside of decklid (1986 only) and beginning 1991 the light is on the inside of the decklid.

That would mean all the other model years where the brake light is mounted in the rearspoiler the louvers would not have a brake light (formation or cut-away). The shape of all of these louvers would be different (brake light area only).

Can someone give the part number for these 3 styles of louvers?

1986
1991/92
All other years

This would help those that are searching for them find/purchase the correct ones or clearify why they are different.

Thank You,

Re: Rear window louver questions???

I was able to locate two of the part numbers from my own receipts.

The 82-85, 87-90 set was part number 998386
The 91-92 set was part number 12341693

I do not have any info on the 86 louvers. Anybody with a factory set can locate the number on the bottom side and post it here. The remaining pieces of the louvers are all the same from 1986-92, so you can swap the 3rd brake light option if you need to. I bought two 91/92 sets years ago and created a set without the 3rd brake light option. By doing that, I have a partial set that includes slats, side ABS pieces and one 91/92 light kit. I sold the other 3rd brake light kit a few years ago to someone on these boards.

Re: Rear window louver questions???

Thanks for the quick response and information. I have an additional question I am looking to purchase some louvers, (for 91 z28) is there a guide on how to install them with all mounting parts needed? I tried looking on youtube but there is nothing. I can work with a illustration if applicable.

Thanks,

I just found some NOS louvers on craigslist. The part number on the very bottom right (and the bottm left side) is 10027847. There is no cutout for a brake light. Not sure if this number was an accessory number or if I am looking at a Pontiac number?

I think I have a set for 86. I'll upload a pic and get the numbers tomorrow.

Re: Rear window louver questions???

Here they are, picked them up at the swap meet for $50. They didn't come with the mounting brackets tho, but I work in a machine shop so I should be able to make something.

The only numbers I've found so far are:

That seems strange, why wouldn't the 90 use the same part number as the 91 and 92? The brake light is in the spoiler.

That set shown is the 91/92 set. The 91/92 cars had the 3rd brake light in the window, not the spoiler. The number you show was probably found on slat 5, 6 or 7. The slats are all numbered to show what order they belong when being put together.
