RS rear spoiler to high rise, quick questions

Wanting to go from my RS spolier to the high rise. Can i modify the rear deck lid, or do i need the factory high rise deck lid? Reason being, there are several holes in my deck lid from the RS spoiler that i dont think the high rise will cover. Also how big of a pain is it to change out deck lids if i have to go that oute?

Thanks

There will also be holes in the rear quarters - they will all need to be filled.

There are five holes in the decklid you will have to weld shut. None of them get re-used with the high-rise/Z28 spoiler. I just did this about a month ago.

Re: RS rear spoiler to high rise, quick questions

I just put a '91/2 wing on my '84. I used my stock decklid and redrilled the holes for the new spoiler. Everything lined up fine. I have a friend that is a welder. He is going to close up my old spoiler holes for me. I'm also changing the gfx to the '91/2 style to match.

I just completed this, well, had some help with the welding, but its not too bad. Those holes are too big to be filled and needed to be welded, grinded and filled.

The wing lines up good, just need to drill the 6 new holes for the bolts to fit through. I started with small drill bits then worked up to larger bits until it fit and lined up right.

You didn't ask for my opinion but I think the stock rs spoiler is so much better looking. The high one to me has always looked like an add on with the regular looks like it's just meant to be on the car. Just my two cents worth.
