i have just joined this forum as a member a little while ago.i have an 88 firebird base,so its a 2.8 v6 173 lol.ive got an 80 series flowmaster muffler with 3 inch tips and a k&n filter.by january or so,i plan on turning it into a true dual exhaust,yes i know its a pain but ima try it,with an h-pipe,2 new cats and flowmaster super 10's.i plan to get ceramic coated headers for it by pacesetter,and a cai,most likely an AEM,from autopartswarehouse.com then finally i plan on getting a chip for it,most likely from performancechiptuning.com anyways here r the pics of the new paint,i will also include some pics of wut it looked like before.when i got it it was the factory maui blue paint,but i painted my own stripes on it as u can see haha.its not bad,but the orange and black is much better cuz for the stripes on the blue,i just used cheap spray cans.

Ya eh? Colour is always personal opinion,I've seen quite a few other third gens in hugger orange.I'll be putting up way more pics tonight or tmrw.u can't really see how glossy it is in this one,I took more close up pics of it.I'll also put up old pics from when it was blue

Honestly, the car looks silly with the wheels pushed out past the quarter flares, cheap looking paint, and an 80 series with a 2.8.

But that's just like, my opinion man.

kk there r some good pics for u guys.i only mentioned previously wut i plan to get for the future performance wise.appearance wise im hoping to get american racing torque thrust type m's.18's for front and rear,and for the width on the rear i cant decide between 10's or 11's,but regardless ima get it with enough backspacing so they will clear my fenders.on the front i cant decide between 8's or 9's but ima probes go with the 9's.i also found chrome door handles on ebay that fit so thatll look nice.im also gona put better looking tips that i have now.i currently have 30 degree slash cut 3 inch tips,but when i put my true dual in ima get 4 inch 45 degree slash cut ones.im also gonna order firebird emblems in chrome,from the first gens,which will look sick.forgot to mention in the peformance list ima also get that brake kit,i think its bauer or something,and get the calipers in red,from the hawks third gen site,and paint my stock rear drums red with the proper paint.i THINK that is everything if theres anything else ill post it

I kinda like that scheme for a race car maybe. The cragar steelies manage to pull it off. Looks like it would be fast on dirt

I'll hold my tongue on the 2.8 and the quality of the paint job, but get rid of that tower speaker.

 

 

 

haha the speaker in the back is pretty silly i shall toss it eventually.and ya the colour combo is pretty nice id have to say.ever since i got this car ive wanted to paint it exactly like this and finally did.the first time i did the stripes was good practcie for the real thing

 

 

here is a pic of my bitch 173 lol.i mean its only giving about 140hp or so,and 135 before i added the muffler and filter.if u scroll to the top if anyone hasnt read my future performance parts list yet,by the time i add everything i can get it to 220hp.most ppl will know that 220hp is wut the trans am gta's r pushing with no mods.that really isnt bad imo....im not gonna race it,i just want more power to get around and have fun in parking lots haha

 

there r pics of my 10inch sub and the amp.the sub is in the bottom part of the trunk,and i know my house speakers on the top r silly,but my original ones were blown lol.i paid 20$ for a pair of the house speakers,and i was so very lucky to get the whole alpine sound system free.sub,amp,deck,and all the wires and stuff pretty much.i know the deck isnt in all the way haha cuz i installed it,along with the whole system :P i also do ALL the work for the whole car,unless its absolutely necessary to take it to a shop,i dont let anyone touch it.but about the deck,ill probes get a shop to get it in there properly.i tried for about a half hour and couldnt find enough room for all those thick wires and such

 

here is one last pic of it before i painted it.this was back in june just before i graduated outside my skool.it was so fun having a third gen bird in highschool!!! and yes i did a burnout on the last day lol

 

oh right in case anyone was wondering i got the paint from thecoatingstore.com and went to the classic car series and ordered the hugger orange paint kit which is a 2 stage urethane.for the stripes i just got that cheap laquer quart of duplicolour from crappytire lol for 24.99$.it defs gets to me how i didnt take any "during"pics of the process cuz it took 4 months and i was getting really impatient so at the time i didnt give a **** lol.i used a sanding drill to remove the old paint and used a rust treatment and rage gold filler for the rust and dents.i then primered the whole thing and then did the stripes first.i then masked them off and did the orange.then did the clear over everything at once.seeing how the clear is urethane and the black paint is laquer,it wasnt the best way to go but i researched and sure enough if covered it without a problem.however u CANNOT put laquer over urethane as itll eat away at it instantly

 

can anyone also gimme there opinion on wut size piping i should use for when i make a true dual exhaust?? i looked at this list and it says i should use 2's but would 2.25 be pushing it? keep in mind i am definitely putting an h-pipe on it,and 2 new cats.muffler wise im definitely going with flowmaster super 10's haha and remember im also getting ceramic coated shorty headers by pacesetter. apparently i shouldnt even put a true daul on cuz its a 2.8 v6 173.i mean 2's wont hurt will it?i am aware that i need SOME backpressure tho.i also kind of care about sound and 2.25's will defs sound better then having 2's on there.any opinions r appreciated im really not sure about this one thx everyone

 

Ad a narrow pinstripe around the stripes. That would make them look much better.

Get some good compound and a buffer and try and knock down some of that orange peel.

And as said the tower speaker box is total red-neck!

 

Ya I was deciding to add those pinstripes or not.I didn't cuz my friend told me that all that trim and stuff is for it to not look as bulky.if u see the blue pics,there is trim on the sides.I ripped it off for the orange cuz I like it looking bulky.and there is no orange peel anywhere whatsoever.this took 4 months and I prepped it properly.that speaker isn't *******,it just looks ghetto haha I'm from Canada not the south lol!

 

I personally would've kept the headlight housings orange so the stripes alone draw attention, but that's just me... I like the color. Reminds me of an older muscle car.
