My restoration project....1985 Iroc

My first car was an 86 sport coupe, so I have a soft spot for third gens. That is why I decided to build another one, only as an adult with money and skill! I anticipate this project taking me several years due to having a family (they take priority for my time and money). Well here is my progress so far.

Re: My restoration project....1985 Iroc

So did some idiot actually spray bomb and/or roll an original Yellow IROC black? Say it ain't so.

EDIT: I really shouldn't have put it that way. I don't know the cars prior history etc... But I hope someone didn't "paint" that black stuff over a Yellow IROC in decent condition!

Re: My restoration project....1985 Iroc

I think original yellow 1985 IROC's are pretty rare but I would do what ever I wanted if it was my car. As soon as I finish my daughters 89 RS Vert (picking it up from the paint shop Friday) I will be looking for a project for me. I'm going to build MY car to MY tastes just like I think everyone should (unless you're going to do something stupid ).

There are a few threads about the rarity of yellow Irocs in the history section. You should definitely go with yellow.

I vote go for the factory yellow. It's a rare color and it'll look great with the black LS Conteur interior you have. Good luck with the build!

Looks like you've done a lot of work on it already. I'm looking forward to following your thread
If I get a vote (which I know I don't) I'd go for the yellow but as it has already been said, It's your car, make yourself happy.

Good luck Brother! I just have to chime in and say the Yellow IROCS were incredibly sharp and eye catching.... But it's your car!

Re: My restoration project....1985 Iroc

I really like the yellow too, and all I have painted so far is the engine bay. It would really only take me a weekend to have the color changed. My current plan is to paint it white with metallic blue heritage stripes. But now I am second guessing. I really like the look of the yellow Iroc and I really enjoy the look of nice original restorations. I guess I have some serious contemplation to do before I continue with more painting. I won't get to work on it for at least another month and a half or so because I am leaving active duty Army and moving back to PA. That is where the car is currently so maybe I will have my mind made up by the time I get back up there!
