Hi.
I have a nice black 88 Trans Am GTA, and the battery tray has rotted out on it.
I'm sure i saw these for sale somewhere but may not have done.
Anyway, i'm in England and have tried the bigger places like Classic Industries, Year One etc. Does anyone know if you can go buy a new battery tray to weld in, and if so, where from? or was i just dreaming.....?

I just went through this on mine. I was not able to find a NOS or reproduction driver's side battery tray. I ended up finding a rust free used on on Ebay. If you get one from a Camaro or a carb/TBI Firebird, the battery is on the passenger side and the driver side battery tray will usually be in good shape.

 

Got an new one from Summit Racing online, I think Hawks and several other online sites have them also. Just like the original. Lots of spot welds to cut out to get the old one out, just did mine today. Appears this is a structural part of the front sheet metal,

This the driver's or the passenger's side? Passenger's side ones are EVERYWHERE, but the driver's side ones are next to impossible to find except in a bone yard, in which case, they're probably no good. I've been trying to find a new or decent driver's side replacement tray for almost 2 years now with no luck (they're all rotted out in the yards). You have a link?

That's passenger's side... Don't know why nobody seems to want to mirror it for the Birds that have the battery on the driver's side because the air box and canister are on that side (passenger's) of the engine...
