T-Top panel

I need a center t-top panel (the panel the t-tops slide into to hold them down in the center). Can't find anyone the makes new ones? Mine is rusted way too bad to repair. Does some Co. make these or should I look else where? I can't put on the weather strip til I replace it.

You can buy a brand new stainless steel one from Hawks for about 300 bucks. I found an unused original on Ebay for about a hundred bucks. There are plenty of decent used ones out there.

Re: T-Top panel

try a junkyard. I got one for like 9 bucks rust free. I painted it with some SEM and it's going into my car. The one in my car isn't that bad at all, I could restore it and send it to you if you want.

Go to a junkyard, you're gonna get screwed anywhere else. I scored a near-perfect one for $2.

Thanks Guys. I think I'll try my luck at the junkyards and see what I come up with. $100-$300 is a little more than I wanna spend for one but I will if I have to.

Re: T-Top panel

Here the other thing - Do you know how to remove one? Taking out the screws does not just allow you to remove it!
I need to replace mine (have replacement) but I heard you need guitar string to remove adhesive to allow it to come off.

Re: T-Top panel

I know the weatherstripping has to come off but the roof panel still has adhesive under it too. I have one that is my replacement and looks like double sided factory tape which is what they use to hold on e a lot of trim - pretty strong stuff.

On the note of "pulling" weatherstripping has anyone done this without having to be replaced?

Re: T-Top panel

I have (thought I opted to replace it anyway later). Just be careful. There actually isn't a lot of adhesive holding it on from the factory, but previous owners often have their own fixes for leaks and the like, often equalling nasty amounts of caulking in the seals. Use a heat gun or even a blow dryer to speed things up, but just be very very careful.

I have pulled multiple t bars and I have yet to see adhesive underneath. One thing to note is that there are more than just the eight screws holding it in that are immediately visible; there are more screws under the weatherstrip.
