All new front end : )

so i got my whole front end redone. my old one was all spider cracked and had nicks on it and looked awful. so i got a new bumper cover and lower spoiler from classic industries. the quality wasnt bad i thought compared to what i heard. my auto body guy put a strengthener on it though before paint which will keep it strong and from flexing. i couldnt be happier with the outcome but one thing...because it is an aftermarket part and is not exactlt the same as the GM one would be...im left with about an eigth inch gap between the front of the hood and top of the bumper...does anyone have the same problem, and is there a way to fix it, or should i stop being **** about it and be happy it looks alot better than it did. thanks

I didn't realize classic industries had a bumper cover... I got min from GM, spent too much money one it... but heck... why not?? Also got a new hood, fenders and front end bolt kit (nothing like new screws and bolts).

I would just kick back and enjoy the looks of it. It's already painted, your not gonna be able to do much unless you want to re-paint the bumper or the hood.

The car looks killer man, but yeah large gaps bother me as well, but aftermarket parts done't fit like OEM. just enjoy the car.

Re: All new front end : )

it looks fine to me. I guess you could move your hood hinges forward a bit to close the gap. but if you didn't, your still good!

Re: All new front end : )

You can move the bumper up with the headlight mount panel but you need some gap between the two or they will rub. Looks good like it is, in pics anyway.

Re: All new front end : )

You can do one of three things, have the hood adjusted to close the gap, have the bumper adjusted to close the gap, or do nothing. A well trained body shop can do all three of these options without damaging your new paint, especially option three lmao.

Re: All new front end : )

I think it looks good but if it bothers you I would just take it to the body shop and have them adjust it to minimize the gap.

Re: All new front end : )

If I remember correctly, it was about 450 for everything. And they were having a monthly sale this time last year..so I got free shipping. they recently just sent me a Camaro catalog with literally everything in restoration and replacement parts. It's Camaro Christmas in a book!

Re: All new front end : )

I had a similar problem with the Classic front bumper also.I had a gap between the right front fender and cover the body shop didn't realize it until they had it painted and installed,I was not happy with the results so Classic took it back(painted)and refunded my money,no problem with them at all.

Re: All new front end : )

Yea it's a great catalog...plus they sent it to me for free. Just showed up one day. And I was gonna order the bolts from them...but my auto body guy got them instead. Not sure if he he had them at his shop or ordered them reproduction.

Sometimes that's just how the car is. Both GM bumper covers I've had did the same thing. You can shim the to go a little higher.
