Nooo somebody backed into my car! I need a new fender...

Well, yesterday when I was parked at school, some rocket scientist somehow managed to hit my parked car, and I have no idea who it was. Now i have a bigass dent in my front passenger fender and i need a new one. Where can I get one besides GM because I really dont want to overpay for the piece of junk they will send me which will probably have dents in it anyway. (sorry, bad experiences with gm dealer parts).

GM fenders are going to be the only ones that fit worth a damn. My father uses jap panels on repairs when people don't want to pay for OEM and they NEVER fit right.

On a side note, unless the fender is totally crumbled, it can probably be saved. Junk yards are also great places for inexpensive fenders.

I have a pass side fender from an '87 formula that I will sell for $50 + shipping. This is an actual GM piece and is in pretty good condition. If I remember correctly, it has maybe 1 or 2 SMALL dents, and possibly some surface rust/road tar on the lip by wheel well. Sanding/priming is about all this thing needs.

whatever you do, avoid Tong Yang (TKY) fenders like the plague, they fit horrible!
I bought one trying to save some money, NEVER AGAIN!
the top sits above the hood, rubs the door at the bottom and the lower bolt panel near the rocker sits 1 & 1/2 inches too far back.
still need to replace it with an OEM part. after that it's gonna get recycled

edit: I just noticed how ancient this thread is, wow... six years old...

If there is a good bodyshop near you, they can normally get you a used GM fender.

for the tip, I'll check with some of the body shops around town.
I tried the local junkyards already, but they seem to be a bust for things like this, all the fenders are damaged at the ones I have visited.

Sorry to hear about your car.
I have seen aftermarket fenders fit really bad! Off by almost up to a half inch!
I would go used before I go aftermarket ones!
It may take awhile, but I would say keep looking.

Good luck,

George

looks like you got pretty lucky with your repro stuff.
I ought to take some pictures of how awful this stuff fits my car, you could toss a cat through some of the gaps,
by the time I get done paying a body shop to get this one fender to fit right I could buy a nice pair of used GM fenders.
so in my case it really wasn't much of a savings.
what aftermarket brand did you buy? like I said I got the TKY fender, it feels cheap, looks cheap and fits cheap.
