So does anyone have a Camaro painted the original medium gray color? My 86 sport coupe was originally that color, and I am going to be repainting it soon. Its just when i got my car the paint was all faded and abused, and I would like to see what the color looked like new before i paint it. Ive been looking all over the forum and all i can find are pics of charcoal gray firebirds and camaros. Here are a few pics of the original paint on my car:




if anyone can post some pics of this color that would be awesome.

 

My 86 S coupe is similar to the silver in the 3rd gen logo. When i get the body back in shape I'll probably go back with it. Not sure what the spec says on mine.. silver/grey gold/brown ect

Mines an 86 Z28, it looks like the same color as yours
Its getting repainted so its not gonna be this color much longer

 

I had an 89 RS vert that color that also faded badly. I had it painted metallic aqua marine. A Saturn color. I was told that the Grey will fade like that because of the metalic in the paint. It looks good when it shines so good luck.

Is this the same as gunmetal? Good choice for a not too common color in a third gen.

tom, thats the same iroc i have but, i have way more body issues including bad quarter work from a body shop and a daytona iroc hood thats purple lol!

What rims are these?

 

This car is gunmetal gray. There's also a shot of a freshly painted inner fender using the OEM paint code and having a gallon mixed at my local auto body parts store.

 

I know this may sound dumb, but is there much of a difference between gunmetal gray and cyber gray metallic? I am new to the forum and I am rebuilding an 85 iroc as my first school car. I am going to get it repainted and I am stuck between the two colors.

Nice cars, I really like the gunmetal/medium gray because i hardly ever see it around here. All the cars i see are either red or white, and a few teal. I used my first sport coupe in the beginning of this post for parts. Need more work than i wanted to do at the time, so i salvaged every part off it and scrapped the shell. Since then i picked up an identical car, same year, color, and also a sport coupe. Only thing its a v6, with gray interior. Paint is still faded in a few areas but still looks great for original paint.

These are some pics of a gray 1991 Camaro RS and a gray 1988 IROC.

 

Starting body work on my car as soon as it warms up. I went down to my local maaco and the guy i spoke with is a fan of thirdgens. Took a walk in the shop and they do some really good work. Im gonna bring it to them prepped and there gonna spray it 700 for me. Im not looking for a show car paint job, plus the car is my daily so i don't want to spend a lot. I believe its a urethane paint job, the 4 star one. The 5 star is the most expensive.

For the color, I think I'm gonna go with the 5th gen color, ashen gray metallic. Gonna still be gray, but with a modern twist. I really like the way that color shines. Got this pic from google:
