I'm pretty sure that someone posted about installed power seats in cars that didnt originally have them. I think he said he had to run some new wires from a empty part of the fuse box. You might want to search this section for that.

i just installed a set of 98 camero seat in my 91 trans am they fit in perfectly, the driver side was electric but old seates was not ,its was a lot of wire already going around the bottom of the seat im sure there was one already there for that perpose but i didnt want to take the time to find out.i just ran a wire from pos.side of battery to one of the red wire make sure to put a fuse in line i use the same size fuse that owner mnaual said should be in fuse box.the other wire can be ran to a bolt that holds the seat in or back to neg side of battery

if you run it to the negative side of the battery the seat will always have power no matter if the car is on or not. so i suggest not doing this.

i dont think having power the all the time would be a problem unless switch got hung but i looked in my cars fuse box and you can all was come off the power seat fuse just make, theres an adapter the slides around the fuse's terminal and tie in the wire there just make sure you put terminal the side that doesnt come from battery

I put in '97 T/A seats in my 82 t/a (actually they saw an 86 t/a in between) and i spliced the power seat harness into the pos and neg leads into the power window switches. They are orange and black if i remember. The gauge is a bit smaller, but this is how it was wired on the 86 when i bought it, so i did the same in my car. No problems so far.

Although my 85 didn't come with power seats, it had the wiring for it already run. It was just tucked up under the carpeting under the console. May want to look first. I doubt GM ran different wiring harnesses for power and non power seats.

I replaced my 91 Camaro RS standard seats with 4th gen seats (the driver seat was power). Check your manual; there is an accessory slot in the fuse block that is always hot. I just ran a wire from it under the carpet to the seat connection. I put an inline fuse in the wire. Again the owners manual specifies the correct fuse size. It works just fine, and Ihave had no problems with it.

I just got a set of used seats for my 89 FB. The driver side is power - not yet install 'cause I try to figure out what is the size of fuse required(I don't have any manual on my car/seats). Can anyone advise what is the recommend fuse size? Thks
