Drip rail removal

How do I get the drip rail off without ruining it? I'm talking about the hard, shiny black wrap-around trim that lines the window opening on a coupe (non t-top). It seems to be clipped onto a metal edge somehow. I want to remove it so I can sand the a-pillars down. I can work around the windshield trim, but I want the drip-rail off.

Re: Drip rail removal

Easy. Remove the weatherstripping. You will see the screws that hold the weatherstripping strip to the body- the drip rail is either glued and pinched between the track and the body, or screwed in itself. Simply unscrew the track, unscrew or pry the drip rail free with a putty knife and sand away! I left my drip rails off and just reinstalled the weatherstrip track, since I live in California(although it is going to rain tonight!).

Thanks for the reply. I haven't tried yet, but I plan to try to remove them as soon as we have some nice warm weather again in a couple of days.
