my new 1989 iroc with issues
just got this car traded my truck for it and its got a lot of issues I didn't see in the test drive and what not ......for 1 the hatch rattles like crazy the bushings for the motor are completely gone and the motor just constantly runs for it and 1 of the pins in the hinge are missing can the hinge be replaced ... the car has also had a partial computer delete and so the tac and check engine light stay on the light doesn't bother me but would like the tac to work.... the temp gauge doesn't get over 110 so I cant get the heat to work but the ac seems to work great ...... and the torque converter has a toggle switch on the dash and has a super stiff gas pedal I should note the car has a mild cam in it so vac cant be used to control the converter.... what can be done to fix all this kinda new here and never had a 3rd gen before

Pics of the carb and distributor would help, since you said it had a partial computer delete I'm assuming its been switched over.
The converter is not controlled by vacuum, it is locked up by the computer. The toggle switch is a work around to lock it up.
The hatch motor bushings can be ordered from top down solutions, I got mine from them. Highly recommended.
The heat not working sounds like someone took the thermostat out. You need to replace it to get it to retain heat.

Re: my new 1989 iroc with issues
its got a full msd ignition 6a....and msd blaster coil I know that
I don't want to always have to flip the switch on and off it gets old.... would like to 1 day make it a manual car (truck I traded for it was a stick and already I miss having a stick lol ) but until then is there a stand alone computer that car run the converter at a desired speed .... I knew older 1s were controlled by vac so I didn't know
any ideas on the hinge for the hatch missing the pin in it
is there a way I can swap to a solid latch for the hatch so I don't have this issue in the future ...any thoughts or should I leave it alone once fixed
right now the hatch needs to be realigned since sticks out past the fender portion of the wing like a 1/4 inch

So it just has an MSD ignition added, is it still TPI? This info is needed to help you trouble shoot.
The hinge pin you are better off sourcing from the classifieds or a junkyard.

See if your Tach signal wire is plugged into your distributor. On the cap there is a small square that pokes out that has wires plugged in. One is labeled tach and should have a wire plugged in. I believe the wire is brown but I may be wrong. Also your distributor should have a vacuum line going to it since it was converted over to carb. If it does not you need to get another distributor or its not going to run right due to no advance.

its got the after market tac plugged in to it but would much rather have the original tac in the dash is ther a way I can hard wire it or does it run off the computer will look for the vac line in the morning and all the original wires before the conversion are there just zip tied out of the way so idk which go to which but none seem to be cut or hacked up

Your factory tach lead wire will be white. This will be coming from the bulkhead connector and is not related to the computer wiring. I'm not sure what year went to the small cap hei, you'll have to check and see what you have. Either way I believe your MSD box has a tach port on it.
