Shifter ****?

I know this is probably a pretty simple question, but how do you get the shifter **** off. It should just unscrew right? cause mine isn't comming off..

mine had trouble...

i took an old t-shirt, and wraped it around the boot, and then put vice grips on over the shirt, and sucured the the shifter arm. then unscrewed...(the shirt is to you don't hurt your leather boot..

if it's manual, then yeah, it should. if it's auto (82-87?) with a round shifter, take off the buton and you'l see a c-clip, pull it off and off comes the ****, if it's post 87 or has the square shifter, it should have a clip on the front of the post, take that out then try to pull it.

If it's a 5-speed, spray WD40 up under the ****, let it sit, then try it. If that doesn't work, put some heat on it with a hair dryer and try again.

FireBreatha... If you look on the front lower part of the ****, you should see a flat thing... get something like a small flattip and push in on the top and rotate in behind it... it will pull right out.
When you're done, should look like a large staple. The **** should lift right off after this...
Hope this helps
