got a notchback for $125

Went to the near-by pick yur parts today to confirm a rumor that there was a firebird there with a notchback hatch. To my suprise it was there, i took the chance and got it for a mesely 125 firebird spoiler included. Its already been primed orange, but im gonna do grey, for white paint. Then im gonna pull the plexi-glass window (cracked) and get a new 1 cut outta glass, then its all of relocating the 3rd brake light and puttin in a de-fogger set-up. Any suggestions on that would help a lot. plus some dark limo tint

If any one has or will be doin this , Is there a way to install a 3rd light, and a defogger on this setup, info and suggestions would help

check local auto parts stores, often they'll have a defogger kit that sticks onto the glass and you can usually adjust the size.

drtybrd Check out Kyfbodies.org and see I have posted about the problem with the JY in KY. A few guys live over there and may have called the place. I myself would have beat down the guy who told you it was there and then they didn't have it. By the way SCtoSS86 Did you get the rear seats. They are kinda rare too.

91z4me, the original Notchback GTAs had glass rear windows with defoggers in them, so I'm guessing this is an aftermarket hatch. So the donor car probably didn't have the special high-back rear seats.

Still, a great score.... and for $125!

Congrats!

Yeah i was pretty sure this is an aftermarket piece myself. When you say the rear seats, you mean the split rear, right? I'd love to get those too, but no luck on those. Any good cars they get there dont last too long. I was lucky enough to yank a HO ECM for my LG4, now a week later I cant even recognize the car. The firebird did have that folding cover that goes over the deep section in the hatch, but with the notchback i now get the same security and privacy.

Frankie is talking about a special rear seat that was only used on Notchbacks and TTAs. It's got a huge head rest on the top of the seat back.

You are correct, Jim..... as usual!

Indeed, this rear seat style was used on the 1988 GTA Notchabck and the 1989 20th Anniversary Trans Am only....

Here's an example from my car:

EDIT: Isn't having a college degree GREAT? AARRGGHH!

That should be Notchback....

Hey ever notice that rear headrest looks like the bottom from an older T/A front seat--where the backs of your knees rest.

I can see why the Notchback had those seats but why did the Turbo get them ? I'm assuming they where to keep your head off the glass in the notchbacks.
