PAINTED MY CONSOLE AND IT LOOKS GOOD! TRY IT!!
Yesterday I was working on my interior, you know fixing the dash speaker that didn't work, painting my guague needles orange to match my pillar pod guagues, etc. Doing all the little things that you put off for that rainy day. Well as I was spraying my ash tray black(a great way for non smokers to solve the dirty look) some over spray got on the interior. Bingo, this looked good. So I took off the face plate for the radio, the instrument cover and masked the console area window/lock buttons and shifter indicator. Took about 10 minutes prep and the I began spraying. Don't hold the paint too close, about 6 inches away is good. When I finished it looked brand new. No need for armour all as the dash now has a permanent shinny look. I will post pics soon. This really set off my new interior I just install. You should try it!

I'll take interior shots after I do my usual "Friday getting ready for the crusie spots" carwash. They should be up in a day or so depeding on developing and scanning time.
ill take pics of mine in a second. i used just a spray paint with a flexible spray primer after i cleaned the pieces to be painted with soap and water. i then waited for em to dry and shot em with a small layer of clear and i havent had a single flake or chip in almost 8 months.

I used 3m that I bought at Pep Boys spray paint counter. Make sure it is a gloss enamel.
I tried that once just washing then painting it and it wore off in about a month or two. This time, however, I preped it thoroughly. the steps I took were:
1. wash with warm water let dry
2. wipe with tack cloth if needed
3. wipe down with rubbing alcohol
4. wipe down with SEM plastic prep
5. Spray 1-2 coats of klean-strip bulldog adhesion promoter
6. apply as many coats of your color (gloss black interior spray in my case) as needed to get good coverage.
