THIEFS SUCK!!!

Someone decieded they needed my sterio a little more than I did this week-end. Not only did they get my cd player and eq, they decieded to destroy my whole center console. I guess they were stupid because they didnt pop the hatch to get the amp, they tried to get at it from the back seat. Now I need to replace the whole center console(they even destroyed the 5-speed shift plate), but I still have my amp.

And that is why I am leaving the factory(top of the linefor '86) radio in my car. I am adding 300 watt power amp and removable kicker box in the rear well, and a CD changer with wireless remote control in the rear glove box. All of this will be hidden so when they look in the car all they see is the old factory radio. I would love to kick a thieve's a$$ about my car but I guess the2 alarms have scared them for now. Sorry to hear about the radio but at least you still have the car. It could be worse.

When I get a new stereo, I'm doing what someone else on this board did. They flush mounted it, and then cut off the face of the factory unit. They glued all the ***** and buttons back on, and then when they leave the car, put it over the flush mounted unit. That way it looks stock. Not a bad idea, I forgot who's it was.

The sterio is one thing, but the fact that they destroyed the center console is what makes me mad. I've had one sterio stolen where they didn't leave a scratch on the vehicle, the person who stole that one must have been a pro.
the idiot that took this one used what looks to be a crowbar to remove the sterio from the console, completely ripping it apart!
The sad part is that I was joking with my girlfriend the night before about pulling in the parking lot and finding someone breaking into my car. lol

Just curious, are those alarm systems that make the car live legal in the states? When I was living over in the UK, a neighbour of mine put one on his Jaguar and if you pulled he door handle, opened a window, opened the door, or anything the car would shock the living hell outta you.

Anyone heard of them?

If you did something like that here, you would probably get sued by the thief! Go figure.

Yea your probably right bout that Bill. People can sue for the dumbest reasons and win here it seems.

Still, a sticker on each window or something like the normal 'protected by bla bla bla' and a warning would probably help my case some.

Im gonna look for one, hopefully I dont need to import it. I kinda wanna watch someone try to break into my car with that thing armed

I posted that idea some time back. Im glad it worked for you. I still have a factory radio, 10 disc changer in the trunk and FM modulator feeding the radio. But if I ever did convert to an aftermarket head unit, the fake stock cover is the solution I would use. In my case I'm even more vulnerable to theft being I have a 'vert. If you are upset over a console getting screwed up, it is a cheap fix compared to repairing or replacing a convertible top that got cut. 8^(

Thanks for the offer, but I found one in a junk-yard for $50. It's in perfect condition. I know a guy in Abilene with a 5-speed shift plate. Next sterio will be from Secret Audio. Going to hide it real good. Friend of mine has an alarm he said I could have. Now I just have to make the time to do the repairs. I'm just glad that I didn't leave my pistol in the car!

Most of the time if they cant get what they want they will make sure you cant enjoy it.There is no stoping them.So I have installed a little night watch camera where I park my car and it records all night.Atleast then maybe, and only maybe if something is stolen or broken I might have some lagal recourse.I got it for like $20.00 on ebay. They even have wireless ones you could put in and around the car.Things like this are all you can do to try to discourage these things.

This place has gotten real bad since the oil bust of '86. used to be refered to as the worst place on earth to live, or murder capital U.S.A., worst than N.Y., L.A., and San Fran. combined.

Thank god for that HARD TO MISS hatch button, because they would have gotten my amp and subs if they found out how to pop it! haha dumb criminals.

That sucks. I had all my **** stolen to. They took everything in my car even ripped out my Q-Form kickpods. I guess they thought it would be easier than removing the speakers from them. I bought a Pit Bull to take care of their *** if they try it again!!!!!!!!!! The sad part is I didn't have all my receipts so the Insurance Co wouldn't pay me for everything I had, only the stuff I had receipts for. Good Luck John

Sorry but I had to post this. I've heard of incidents around town where these stickers have actually screwed people over. See, if the thief is skilled, and has some help they can take apart a car alarm in under a minute (usually its too late by that time, notice i said usually), because the sticker tells them what kinda security system the car has. On the other hand these stickers could help a bunch too, because there is people who will know better to screw around with a car alarm. I myself have a $4 security system. Its a little flashing red light power by 2 AA batteries (the $4) hidden under the custom deck bracket. The red light flashes non-stop and it really looks like some kind of alarm. I know its not really effective, but I bet it fooled more than 1 person since its been "installed".
