hey guys, heres a post i made over at MFBA.org,
but of course i wouldnt neglect my thirdgen Brethren...

Ok Guys, Here ya go, this is just install pics, i gave a little bit of insight, but i willllll get pics of the complete install when i get my car back in a couple days....

ok, well anyways, lets pretend its a FAQ..

Step one, at this point im hoping you already have your hands on a fourth gen console, now do relize there are two different types, the 93-97 and then the 97+
now the 97+ is what we have shown here, the 97 plus, have a cup holder in the center, cup holder front right, and then two cup holdders in the rear for your passengers...
ok, things that youll need for install will be a socket wrench with a unidentified socket in MM that i cant remember, then Power wires, nothin bigger than 14/16 gauge, wire cutters, crimpers, small hand saw, and some patience and time, now do relise this is a very EASY install, and very well worth.
youll notice on the front of the console there are two clips, these we do not need and youll notice that they protrude and quite ugly therefore, cut them off.
now, the harness that youll remove the harness from the old cigarette lighter, now use the interconnections, and wiring to connect the new cigarette lighters, one and two, and they will run thru the orignal fuse as your domelight, and aCC...
this i will get more in depth later...

ok, a fun thing to do is to remove the old console, of course youve noticed that there are two screws in the glove compartment, remove them, then the top two in the console by the little switch for the light. now on the sifter handle, facing the front of the car, is a little staple, pry it out, and lift the handle up, now remove the top shifter plate, and disconnect the light from the indicator panel.
theres a bolt by the shifter holding down the old center console now remove it. and now take a peek at the Ebrake handle. towards the front is this piece..

now you will be pushing down on it, as shown

by pushing it down it does not allow the teeth to catch on it, and you are allowed to move the handle upwards without tightening the brakes..

by doing this you can remove and install the console alllllot easier... with less damage to everything, another thing when, your installing the new console youll want to put the car in neutral.

the green wires are my power for the cigarette lighters..

theres were one of the clips would have been before i cut it off..

theres a driver side pic, and thats my time temp sensor for my alarm...

and theres a view from passenger side. those are my speaker wires im running..

It's a temp sensor(Amps Maybe)for something. I have one question. How does the E-Brake Handle come off?

There's a screw in the side, then it slides off.

but yea, combined with that trick of lifting the handle ninety degrees, it makes it sooo much better...


Thats a DEI Time Temp sensor for my car,
At a certain time, or temparture, the car will start and warm up, or at a temp it will start, and cool down to a certain temp, or heat then turn off....

or lets say you a student like me, wake up same time, every day, every mon tuewedthurfri the car will start at 7:00 and warm up...
and then on satsun nothin will happen, cool toy,

ok heres a question for yah...i read in another post that because the console on the 4th gen is farther back you essentialy lose your armrest, i also heard that you cannot lay your seats all the way down because the seats hit the console, is any of this true??

 

Hasn't anybody tried this in a Camaro yet?
