Ignition key
All of a sudden my ignition key has refused to turn. I've played with the steering wheel, and the key with no luck. It did turn to the accessory setting, but would not turn back. I ended up having to unhook the battery. Is it time for a new key cylinder?
How much would one cost?
Thanks

Sunday night I turned on my car and couldn't get the key to turn off. I took it to the dealer and he said the pin was bent and my cyinder was worn out. It was 411$ 30 for the ignition and the rest was for labor and tax
I would say you key cylinder is bad. I have replaced quite a few of them, they are not that hard at all. Go to Autozone, or a local auto store. Part is about $15. It comes with instructions on how to do it, my first one took me an hour, now I can do it in about 40 min. Hope it helps.

This is a coincidence. Just happened to me a few days ago. The tumblers wear out. I just replaced the ignition cylinder and it was fine.

I had one go bad about a year ago, paid $15.99 from Pep Boys (no longer in Flint). Mine I could pull the key out while driving down the road.

What about Vats? Wouldn't I need a new key with the correct resistor? Or are you guys disabling Vats?

Axle/Gears: Drums?
When I bought my new cylinder the guy checked the old key for the vats "number". I had to get a new key with the matching vats cut to fit the new cylinder. The new cylinder will have a key in it which has no chip and it is used to cut the new vats key.
