Armrest screws messed up, now what?
I was taking off my armrests so I can fix the curling, but the four screws that hold the handle part to the door messed up. The Torx kinda fits, but when I turn it, it rips the screw so the torx pattern is ruined and its just a circle. Probably a bad explanation, but its all I got. How can I get these out now? Thanks.

hey maybe a little tip or sum thin but try hammering the toque bit into the screw and put pressure on it and twist if that doesnt work go and try those new craftsmen screw driver things they r made to take out stripped screws and what not. its like 20 bucks for the set from like sears. hope that helps
Sorry to reply as I am of no help at all...but a new used iroc... You happy with it? I have an rs right now like your old car, is the insurrance on the iroc a pain in the *** to pay? Also, how do you like it? I'd love to get a iroc with a 350 tpi setup (or a gta.)

You're not talking about the fake plastic torx screws are you? There are only 3 torx bolts which hold the arm rest on. 2 are on the underside of the lower part, then one which is on the very top of the handle and it goes straight into the door. the plastic panel behind that with 4 'screws' in it is fake. It is just there for looks.

If the armrest screws are stripped, you might have to do the following:
You may have to drill off the head of the screws and then slide the armrest off. Its pretty tough, but be careful of the pull handle.
Once you get the armest off you can take a pair of vice-grips to twist out the screws.
John
That is how I would go about it.

Anyone know where I might find a replacement for one these three armrest torx bolts? The previous own jury-rigged a big sheetmetal screw in my armrest and it doesn't work very well..
Please don't say junkyard - the junkyards in my area don't seem to keep older cars in their lots.
