I've heard the same thing, and remember something about there being a recall, and this being the reason all hoods after 84 were steel. I can't seem to find any more info on it though.

i have had two of those hoods...one was an lg4 hood and the one on my car is a cfi hood....i haven't had one problem with either hoods....my car has seen speeds well over 100mph and so on....not any sign of it falling apart or breaking...hell...i had a 115lb aussie girl sit on it and nothing happened either...i think its a way better alternative to the 75 lb steel hood imho

My 82 Z28 came with that hood and I used to have a 83 CFI Z28 with it also, and neither of them gave me any problems. If you don't find one , shoot me a line, I may sell the one I have.

it's a good hood. I've sat on it plenty of times, and it's just fine, and i'm no light boy either, i'm 270. I've heard of probs, but never seen them.

Where's the best place to look for a CFI hood? I found a CFI car in the junkyard ( really! ) but somebody already nabbed the hood, but I got the CFI so I would like to add the cold air hood too. Any place have them that won't require me to sell my soul to get it shipped?

If these hoods are a problem, you guys gotta let me know because mine has been through alot. It doesn't show any signs of separation yet, but it would really suck if that happened on the freeway.

Do a search on any site that lists recalls for 1982 or 1983 and you'll find several recalls and TSB's dealing with problems with these hoods.
