Hood Louvers

I LOVE the look of the hood louvers! I had to get a pair for my Camaro that came stock without them. I just bought a pair and was wondering what the process is to install them..? Looking under my hood doesn't look like any pre-drilled holes are there or screws to hold in the plates? How does someone go about doing this?

Re: Hood Louvers

If you look at a "stock louvered" hood, you will see it's recessed with mounting holes in it. Like this one; http://www.discountbodyparts.com/cat...?dbpcid=bngpla

So I would have to drill these myself then ?

Re: Hood Louvers

Or get the right hood. I don't know how the louvers will look sitting on top of a non louvered hood.

Re: Hood Louvers

It says it fits 1987 2.8L camaro and I assume they didn't change much on the hood dimensions but would this fit a 1988 2.8L camaro?

Re: Hood Louvers

Hood dimensions didn't change between 82 and 92. Find one you like, and it will swap right over. That said there are 4 factory Camaro hoods to choose from. None of the hood decoration swap to different style hoods.
1 - flat
2 - 82-84 with indents, and a single "louver"/strip of plastic. Cross fire hoods were functional.
3 - 85-89* IROC hoods, indented similar (identical?) to the 82-84, but filled in with full length louvers.
4 - 90*-92 Z-28 hood with "blisters" installed on top.

* note, I could be wrong about the cutover. It is either 85-89 and 90-92, or 85-90 and 91-92.

Re: Hood Louvers

The iroc/z28 hood/louvers went all the way to 90. .....and I'm pretty sure that while he 91/92 z28 had blisters instead of louvers, the hood itself is still the same Iroc hood introduced back in 85. They just changed from louvers to blisters. Same hood.

To the OP, I'm gonna say that without a fair amount of fabrication, they wouldn't look right. Not to discourage you from taking on that project, but It's probably be easier to find a hood made for the louvers. But again, I'm all for custom projects!
