If you have a chance , take a look at "Racing innovation" 82-92 Thirdgen ls swap headers. well worth the price of 300

I have the early 1-5/8 version of them on my daily driver. no issues for the 24k miles i have on them. I have a small cam but it made 358whp. I have the later 1-3/4 set for my 87.

You get what you pay for. 1 3/4" seems small to me. These motors respond well to exhaust side porting and headers.
I recommend Stainless Works or Kooks. I have the 2" SW headers sold through the person you mention.
I have a stock LS2 and asked for a zero knock retard tune. If I wanted to brag on the net, I could have turned it up just to meet a number. Look at the plateau - no peak and fall-off at the end. Lots of room for h/c/i improvements. Final number was 382 rwhp, and tuner said the knock sensors were very sensitive.

Have you looked into the Hooker stainless 1 7/8" design? Lower price than the Hawks/SW. Better overall finish with the welding, velocity spike and merge collector. Which the SW design doesn't offer.

They also have a post somewhere on here about them.

Also to go with the bigger is always better header debate. Here's another link that shows other results.

I have a set along with a set of Hawks SW 1 3/4. The hookers fit amazing along with a better finish out of the two.

There's other places that offer them cheaper. I believe I paid $1300 shipped with engine plates, and oil pan. I tried fitting the headers with both style mounts(Hooker/spohn) and fit amazing with both.

I purchased the kit with the Holley pan so I wouldn't have to do any cutting. Pan also works with the spohn mounts. No notching needed.

With the crossmember I believe so. Unless you get mounts that push the engine closer to the firewall
