Really could use some help on a rear latch opening problem
So I have been doing a ton of rewiring and I have been extremely careful but I mite have messed something up. When you push my rear hatch release button it doesn't do anything. The orange wire has power and when connected to the brown wire it gives power to the yellow wire. So apparently it's somewhere from the beginning of the yellow wire to the hatch release. The shifter isn't mounted but it is in park so that is right but still nothing. The yellow wire goes up to the steering column and then I lose it so I don't know what it turns into after that. Any help would be HIGHLY APPRECIATED

Ok so the yellow wire goes to the park/neutral switch and also to the ignition switch. When not cranking it's suppose to act as a ground and that is what grounds the hatch release relay. Any ideas on why it's not grounding? There is no black wires coming from the steering collumn except the horn but if there is no grounds how does the yellow wire act as one? I'm completely stumped

I appreciate it but that just shows what happens when you go to start it. It gives power to the yellow. But when it's not being started the yellow doesn't have power and is suppose to act as a ground. I just don't know does it ground threw the auto shifter or the ignition switch the yellow wire goes to both

Someone has got to know how the yellow wire turns into a ground. I went threw the park neutral switch and don't see how possibly could be used for a ground. The yellow wire also goes to the ignition switch which has no ground wires going to it so I don't know how it could be used as a ground unless it uses the steering column.

According to the diagram paulo57509 posted; Yellow gets grounded thru the starter when the P/N safety switch is in P or N. ( So you can't pop the hatch while driving )

I was reading the diagram wrong. PAUL you are the man!! And John Thank you SO much for explaining that!! That was the problem. I literally spent about 6 hours yesterday going threw everything and all it turned out to be was the starter not getting a good ground. Crazy

No Problem ! Sometimes it just takes looking at something 'under a different light" in order to see things clearly. Glad you got it figured out.
