anyone ever put strobes in their head or tail lights
Yup, and not that expensive. I've got a kit, that eventually I'm going to install, hyper white strobes in the reverse lights, two hyper whites in the front turn signals, and two blue decklid strobes for above the rear-view mirror (trooper patern).

I never really understood the strobe light fascination.
We like flashy lights. Besides, what says LOOK AT ME besides flashy lights? I am gonna get mine off of e-bay probably. Look up Whelen and Federal strobe and you'll get all kinds of kits. Don't bother w/ the 20 dollar ones.
Ya know what AMAZES me? Someone mentions a body kit like the Evoluzione (where NO ONE would know that a thirdgen is underneath), and all hell breaks loose with "Rice" this and "Rice" that.
Mention strobes on a thirdgen and it's all good.
Don't get me wrong it makes me laugh that's all. I don't care what anyone does to their ride; strobes, neon, clear tails, whatever. But ya just have to laugh at the whole "rice standard" and when people choose to exercise said standard.

I would only hope that maybe Thirdgen is evolving beyond riceritis? Doubt it. Strobes are on cop cars, Fire Trucks, etc etc. It is kinda hard to call them rice for that reason.
There were strobes in emergency vehicles, lowriders, and sport trucks long before the ricers came onto the scene. I dont feel it's particularly *****. What about gfx is that *****? A: NO because the original gm style gfx are tasteful not stupid or gaudy
Whelen decklid strob is what i bought, along with the ones for the tails and front markers, all to match the state trooper signals. Should look awesome at a car show, I saw a guy there with this simlar setup.
Here ya go, sorry for the crappy pictures. These mounts either on top of the dash, or where I'm mounting it, in front of your rear view mirror. Fits perfectly, just gotta find some lens covers.

I got the head light strobes in my firebird. I also have the Matrix 4X6 headlight diamond cut conversions that have a small hole on the bottom which made it easy to put the strobes in without drilling. I have the PIAA HID 9003 bulbs in them and they look sweet. Still haven't had enough time to take picture and post them. If i have time I'll post them. Anyone in so cal that can put a mini-movie on a computer? (that way you can actually see the strobes working.)
strobes....
...I personaly feel strobes are alittle "*****" when put into cars.
I don't know if it doesn't make the car go faster than why have it??
Oh and buy the way I am almost positive strobe lights are ilegal in VA...and the trouble you could get into? It's called impersonating a police officer... (say you are using it to move people out of your way when you are riding down the road)
...trust me....
...any one know of any good 350 IROCs in VA for sale?
still looking....

Bikertrash, the point is to make your car personal. Isn't that what all mods are for? You make you're car fast cause you want to go fast? Personal peference. Some people aren't into the speed scene and like drawing lots of attention and lights seem to get the job done pretty well. Oh, and strobe lights are illegal almost everywhere if you drive with them on. We're talking about car shows.
I see what you are coming from....
....But I come from a minamilist mentality, just like a clean car, nothing crazy, no black lights in the car, or neon ground lights, yellow door handles, or sky high wing. A persons car is a persons car, you can do anything you want to it to make it yours. you are the one that is going to have to live with the hot pick (interior and exterior) civic with the coffee can muffler, sky high wing and 20" "Dubs".
I don't know, how personal is it if everyone has strobe lights?
I liked the guy who replaced his lights with front lights that "pushed them foward" and looked like a late 4th gens lights.
thats personal, different.
I'm not knocking the person that wants to do it, more power to him, it's his car.

First off ,its not illegal, i used to sit in the parking lot of the Dairy Queen at the ocean front with my lights on my 442, and the cops are all over the Atlantic Ave, durning summer and they never hassled me. If you drive around and use them to move someone over that is illegal, read the law, cuase I have. Its clearly printed how they may be used.
As far as you calling it rice, well I didn't know the police where rice. Strobes have been used in cars way before rice boys just liek neons. I can't count how many pawn shops, body shops, and other auto shops that I've seen with cars with strobes parked out front, just to grab peoples attention.

Oh, and my car was formally owned by the state police, my final goal will be to restore its orginal TROOPER DECALS.
this is my reasoning for the trooper strobe patern I am setting up.
I know where there is a 350 IROC for sale in Hampton Roads, but I'm bidding so I'm not telling you.

AHHH rice!
when will you guys ever stop.
i love it!
i have chrome wheels, i have a candy paint job......is it loud an obnoxious? eh, to some; but to most no. people turn and stare....alot, and it's always followed by nice comments. my car is very clean and subtle with a hint of custom things to make it my own.
some may think it's "*****" to lower your car or to have a larger wheel than stock........so what, do what you like. you will never please everyone; please yourself! most of these people are either jealous or just against anything that stands out.
i have strobes; 6 sets of them and i love it...........i also have neon; lots of neon......... you can't tell that my car has any of this unless it's night time.
do i care that most of you think it might look like "rice"? no.
does it hinder my performance? no; not in any way.
is it illegal? yes, if you drive with them on or use them in an illegal way.
one things for sure; when your parked next to me at a car show don't come crying to me when your girl's over there screaming ooooo' look at the lights........... it will happen.
since when has having a little something that can bring attention to your ride been such a crime? hot rods have been using neon for decades; wise up. if you don't like it look the other way.
as far as the strobe lights.......... check out streetglow, they are an excellent company for this sort of thing. as well they also have a message board with people who know alot more about this subject. they will be able to give you all the info you need as most people on here are against making their cars stand out in any unique way.

LOLSheesh, I'm almost sorry I brought up the subject but I just thought the different standards were interesting . Like I said, I don't care what you do to your own ride. Enjoy.

Steve
EDIT: As an aside I am considering putting neons underneath my car... something in red to match the engine and suspension I think...

Anyway, my opinion on strobe lights is that it is incredibly pointless and stupid. But its your car, so be happy.

No fair un4givin89
so you are going to tease me with the fact that you know of a 350 in our general area.
and I'm not going to get into what one person thinks is ***** or not. I'll just say No, rims and a "flashy paint job" will not make a car *****. It's more than just the car's looks that would define it "*****", it's also the person's attitude.
I'm still looking for the dream car, I get close every once and a while, but still not there.....
...there was one in VA beach white, not t-tops, but the guy wanted $6K for it.....

Here where I live in Ohio those strobes have become a big thing. Every weekend when I go cruisin, ppl are always parked at the movie rental store flashing them. You cany buy them at AutoZone for 10 bucks. The only drawback is that the wires for the switch are like 10mm long so you need to add plenty of wire to wire them into thecar somewhere. I have got 3 sets of them in my car. Two lights on each side of my headlights and one set under my dash. Each package comes with a controller so you can set how fast they flash. Personally I like them

Don't buy the one that come in pairs....Those fry easily. get the one that has one long one. They flash much faster and way brighter than the 10 dollar ones. The cost for each are 15 dollars and well worth it.
