T-Top bar, is there a difference depending on year?
Hi all, my T-Top bar is getting a little crusty so i'll either cut out the rot and weld it up or get a new one. I see the Stainless steel one has good reviews but it says its for 85-92 cars where as all the used oem ones on ebay say they are 82-92 cars.
Is there a difference between the earlier cars and the later ones? If so can it be easily modified to fit the earlier cars?
Thanks in advance.
Rob

There are Factory T-Tops and there were a third party that installed them for GM. Make sure you have the fisher/factory T-tops. I'm not 100% positive if the 82-84 were the same, I would check with the vendor as to why they don't list it for the older bodies, by guess is it will work but would probably require a few tweaks.

ahh the early t tops have arms that swing for the latch and the later ones pins, so its likely the t-tops center bar is different.

I'm assuming you're asking because you want to keep and use your original removable tops?

Yes, I do enjoy taking them out for the 3 days of summer we get in the U.K. Ive heard back from Hawks, apparently the difference is the earlier t'tops have a metal edging where as the later ones do not making the earlier ones a little thicker. They say I could probably make it fit but for the cost of it and then fettling compared to repairing mine or getting a good secondhand one i think i'll repair mine for now.
