1985 trans am colour

Hello guys , it's been a long time since the last time I posted in the forum, I needed the money so i sold my two Fbirds 3 years ago . But looks like I'll buy me another one , but I have a question about the car. It is a 1985 V8 . The guy say it's the original engine and color , what you think ?

Re: 1985 trans am colour

Unless someone changed the bumpers, hood and ground effects, that’s not a 1985. Looks like a 1984 Trans am.

I’ve never seen that 2 tone paint scheme on anything other than the 1983 Daytona Trans am, and the colors were different. The white upper color could be original, but that lower blue doesn’t look like a shade that was ever available on a 3rd gen firebird.

Under the hood, that engine and the engine bay have been painted. The red is not original. The engine would have been all black and the engine bay would have been body colored. That leads me to believe the engine was taken out of the car for some reason. Perhaps it’s the original engine, or perhaps not, but certainly questionable. Not necessarily bad, just likely not the original engine as claimed, but that may be fine, depending on what it is. The underhood has some missing pieces, weird upper radiator hose and not sure what’s up with that plastic coolant reservoir.

Overall, if it’s rust free and runs and drives well, it’s probably a decent car. It just looks like someone it had their hands in it a lot and who knows what’s right and what’s not.
