Considering Plasti-Dip to tide me over till fall

Hello everyone,

Looking for opinions on whether or not I should plastidip until I get my official paint in Fall.

My car was originally RED, the PO had a crappy blue paint job thrown on top.

I am going to be going blue, in fact I plan on going for the Riverside Blue Metallic that the new Camaros have been seen with.

However, as I plan to DD this throughout the rest of the year, I am wondering if it would be worth it to spray on a few coats of plasti dip to hide the imperfections until Fall.

Or if this would be more trouble than its worth when it comes to doing the real paint.

Looking for some opinions! Thanks!

I have thought about doing this myself. If you have any dents or bad imperfections in the original paint, it will still show up with the dip.
If it is clear coat fail or just fading, I'm sure it would be an improvement.
Do you have the equipment to spray it, or will you need their spray system?
I guess it comes down to the cost/reward. A kit with sprayer to do our size car would be maybe $500-600 depending on color.
That would be a good start money wise to a actual paint job.

If you have the equipment and can buy the dip for say $200-300, Id say go for it.

(just for reference, I have no experience using, spraying or removing Plasti-Dip)

I would wait since you are looking at a repaint this year anyway. Save the money for the real paint job, and save the hassle removing the plastidip later.

Hmmm, so if I didn't have the sprayer, a spray can method would be no good?

How easy is it to peel off when is completed?

Maybe you would be better off checking out their site.
DipYourCar.Com
DIP YOUR CAR GUIDE

It will take quite a bit of aerosol cans to do the job and get coverage. You have to spray several layers to get it to peel correctly.
You need to do some research on their site for questions, videos and application guides.

They post youtube videos every week with different color combinations.
