I have an 82 model that had the washer
motor on the wiper motor,, i am changing to a later model that has the pump on the washer bottle.. i wont go into detail.
bought a new wiper motor and its got no plastic cover on it,, it has the electrical connections terminals all in a row on the right hand side, can another cars cover fit as many look like they will by photo,s.
i see cadillac and corvette covers look like they will fit,,,
in Australia cant go out looking for parts coz there aint any.
I went through this, early delay covers are pretty much impossible to find. I have an '87 which has the pump in the cover and converted to the later style with the divorced pump as I was able to find a complete assembly, two actually, just in case. Far better solution, especially considering its not grounded through the case anymore.
The wiper motor i bought is a cardone 40-168 its not the pump on motor type like my car had as there impossible to get parts for.
the cardone 40-168 will fit my car but i need the plastic cover.
Ita impossible to explane whats going on.
i done away with washer pump on wiper motor type setup and going to the later type 40-168 replacement.
i bought the wiper motor and its got no plastic cover on it. All i need is the plasric cover for this
i see corvette cover looks the same so does a cadillac from these years
Have you bolted the new motor up to the firewall? I believe there is a difference in how the 82/83 pumps bolt up vs 84 and later. The wiring is also different. The 82/83 cars use a motor/pump from the 70s f body's. Hawks does have a cover/pump combo for 82/83 cars. It converts to an electric pump that is still part of the unit. It was $45 and fits in perfectly. I think the same unit is used for older cars also.
I think the cover you are looking for might be found on ~1978-early 80s chevy nova and same era f-bodies and possibly earlier G-bodies. I got one from a 1978 Nova in order to clear using a 1984 corvette air cleaner on my 82. Basic design of the motor with cam driven pump dates to around 1966 if not earlier.I'll check my spare wiper motors to see if the wanted cover is there...
I couldnt get parts for my original 82 with delay and washer pump built in.
SO i went with the 1983 Cardone 40-168 that is listed as 83 camaro,
looks identical fit to what i have on the car,
My electrician will sort out the wires, I allready have a later washer bottle that has the washer pump on it but never hooked it up, but will now.
the cardone 40-168 wiper motor is on the following cars listed
all i want is the plactic cover but you will not see one of the cars in the list in Australia being parted out.
its really hard to get parts here like this.
i can buy anything else EXCEPT THIS Thing.
Pontiac 6000 1983-82, Bonneville 1983-75, Catalina 1981-75, Firebird 1983-78, Grand Am 1980-78 1975, Grand Prix 1983-75, Grand Safari 1975, LeMans 1981-75, Parisienne 1986-82, Safari 1989-87.
i have seen these on ebay as well, there is a printed circuit board on the back also for what i dont know.
i sent an email to these cardone people who sold the one i have, i will see what they say.
if this motor i bought had no cover in the photo add i would not have bought it.
the add only showed the front,, i never thought about asking about another photo thinking it would be complete.
