changing my deck lid, will glass break easily??

I'm planning on changing my deck lid because I'm getting a knew spoiler and want to know if I have a good chance of breaking the glass. I don't want to break it, but would it be risky?? thanks

Not if you are careful. Did you read the tech article?

I have yanked the rear glass off both of my camaro's, heavy as hell but it made it a *hit load easier to tint the glass with it laying upside down and waist high. Get the rear deck remounted AND TIGHTENED BEFORE hooking up the rear lift struts!.(Learned from experiance).

Its easy but do be carefull. That glass may not seem that heavy but once its off the ?struts is it? its like a 500 pound person just jumped on top that second. I used a broom to prop up the rear glass. Your goning to need some silicone to reseal the window or just get the real stuff from the auto paint store.

You are just changing the metal deck lid, not removing the hatch glass from the car are you?

Make sure you have the torque specs and be very careful (have a friend there to help if possible). I over-torqued and BOOM When that glass shatters, it sounds like a firearm at close range.

oh man did i screw up when i tried to fix a leak on my decklid! let me reiterate what everyone else is saying- the glass alone feels like a million pounds without the struts. i noticed a leak that i had to take care of and then when i went to separate the glass from the lid it suddenly came apart in a matter of seconds, but it was in the up position. the glass came slamming down and luckily didnt break. the decklid almost crashed to the ground but i caught it. what a bummer especially after just having her painted. does anyone have any advice for resealing the lid? my back glass seems to be a bit warped at the bottom and i cant get it to seal properly. im thinking of just running a bead of some sort of sealant across the glass and lid. any suggestions?
