front facia rust

hi friends! I'm a brand new owner of a TA1982 from France (sorry for my bad English!) in order to build a K2000 replica. As I started to remove the front facia rusted, see picture below, I was wondering if this part was available in spare part?

Thanks for you reply

@firebirddude142 That is his member name here at ThirdGen.org

Below is his thread where you can inquire about parts.

What do you need? I’ve parted over 40 cars...

Re: front facia rust

This part is most commonly called the core support or radiator support. Used is going to be the only option for that. Will need to drill out all of the spot welds and plug weld in the replacement panel.

That's quite a bit of rust there and it's not a real common spot to rust through. Might be a specific reason for it, but how is the rest of the car (rockers, floors, wheelhouses, firewall, cowl, etc.)? Best to evaluate the whole thing before tearing into this rust repair.

^^^^THIS.

Seems very odd to me that there's so much rust on that one part of the car while there is no apparent rust anywhere else in that pic.

The battery sits right behind that, perhaps it suffered a bad battery leak at some time and the acid contributed to the rust/rot?

The battery is on the passenger side in 82-84 firebirds. Unless this car had a rt hand drive conversion and the moved the battery to the left Side.

Fair enough, thanks for the info (only ever owned late model birds)......

Maybe the rot monster was especially hungry the day he visited the OP's car

Re: front facia rust

Found a solution from my own. I'll make some metallic angles to be welded. this will cost few euros and not so hard to make it!
An another question is how to adjust the right side mirror as it seems to be electrical (didn't find any control pad)?

Re: front facia rust

Hi everybody! Any answers for the right side mirror control? I have a new request: i'm looking for the gasoline pipes from the tank to the engine. Didn't find on ROCKAUTO and other websites... Also, is there any procedure to change the motor mounts as bolts are in the front arm, behind the suspension spring and so hard to reach them???
Thanks for your help !

Inline Tube will have the fuel lines.

Motor mounts are really hard to do with the front control arms in place. I did mine while I had the control arms out anyway to replace the bushings. Given the age of the car, you may want to consider that. You can buy a whole new control arm with new bushings and ball joint on RockAuto.

Also, suggest starting a new thread for new topics.

Re: front facia rust

Thanks for reply Transam. one last question: if i put bolts inside the arm and nut outside, should it be acceptable (reverse to the original mouting)?

Never tried that. If they fit that way, then I don’t see an issue.

Re: front facia rust

The does your car have power mirrors? Is there a control pad on the center console? If not, the driver side usually has a little control **** on the drivers door and the passenger side you move the mirror itself.
