I dont like the way they look....I love the cirlce gauges in the TA's....the digital ones just look funny and out of place...but I wouldnt mind a car that had one in it...even though I hear they are nothing with problems. I had a pic of an aftermarket digital gauge set up where you install it in cars w/o the digital gauge stock...the kept the circle shape but had digital reading...it was in your choice of red or green. I will try to find the pics.

I absolutely love the digital speedo and the information center, but the rest of it sucks. I can't tell what RPM I'm at with any sort of precision. If it had a numeric display for RPM like the vettes do I'd be happier with it, but overall I still think I'd prefer an analog tach.

The digital gauges give the car even more of an upscale look than it already has, plus they aren't tacky like the ones that come in some cars. Very nicely designed and easy to read. Whenever I see Roshambo's car, I envy him those.

I think the digitals are less informative on a quick glance than the analog gages. The exception to this is the Speedo, but cops can tell if you KNOW your speeding, by looking through your window driving down the highway with the Digital.

The digital gages themselves are difficult to read though, without looking at them. Unlike analog a glance can tell you if your normal or not. The digital segments are not so friendly.

In my opinion, I will take my analog.

I have the digital in my 87 and I like them one of the reasons I bought the car...

I have been pulled over a few times but never by a cop that rode along side of me and looked at my speedo

Since they are riding next to you wouldn't it be easier to look at their own speed and tell how fast you are going instead of hanging out of thier car to look at yours?

The tach does SUCK when it comes to the digital dash...but...the original one that was in my car before I had to replace it, was of a better design and easier to read than the "newer" style that is in it now...see ya

The only reason why I like them is because they a different, and for factory I think they did a nice job, except for the tac accuracy.

In the long run though I have always liked the the original 4 seperate instrument clusters. That is what I will be looking for on the next GTA.

If those camaro digital gauges used red bars instead of green ones, I'd already have it in my dash.

My IROC's original owner put that digital setup in the car, and it was the first thing that I changed back to original. Luckily, he retained all the original gauges so I didn't have to buy anything. I think they have red LEDs at the redline point, which is adjustable if I remember correctly. I agree with you about the green though. They should've used yellow or orange to contrast with the red. I wonder if you could de-solder the green LEDs and relace them with another color.

If you wanna give it a try Jim, I know where you can get a period correct, mid-eighties digital gauge cluster that is attractively priced. And it was only used for about 2,000 miles or so .

Yes, you can desolder them and install amber, red, whatever color (liited to what they have) LED's & didget segments have a standard spacing for circuit boards. You will just need to get the correct LED's.

Been there done that, I switched from red to green in my 67 Riv. because Buick has the blue/green instruments, I thought I would stick with it.

If the price is attractive enough you just might have a deal! Pop off an email or IM me and we'll chat.

Yeah, I'm not wild about the green bars myself, and at the redline the bars turn red. So if I changed them to red, there wouldn't really be a visual marker at redline. I had thought about changing them to red anyway, and etching numbers and a redline "field" directly onto the smoked glass cover. I think that would give it an original look. Anyway, I got the setup brand-new for a hundred bucks, so I'm not complaining either way.
