Entire Interior Removed....

Now that I got the interior removed, which I did so that I could check on the condition of the body underneath the carpet and so that I could also wash everything.... What else should I do while its all up? Anything that would be worth my while? Somthing I had thought about was that sound-silenceing matting.... I can't remember the name of the stuff but It couldn't hurt to make things a little quieter Can you get that kinda stuff at a Lowes or Home Depot? Gotta go clean the hell outta everything tomorro..... later today Just wanna know what you guys think I should do while I got all the stuff out, ANYTHING at all useful would be of great service!

Thanks

Adam

I'm in almost the same phase you are. Pull up all the jute padding (carpet padding). I found that everywhere I had this stuff, I had rust starting. That crap just retains moisture! I'm gonna spray rubber undercoating where I removed it, to help with sound deadening. Once I get that done, the new carpet and seats can go in!

I just did this yesturday! LoL I pulled out EVERYTHING. under my headliner in the back on the inside and outside near the passenger hatch bolt I have mad rust. Im doing body work to it all. and before I put everything back in, Im lining my roughed up grey interior panels (ones I can salvage) with black vinyl, as well as the headliner and theres a lot more custom work going to be done with the interior... I'll post pics and everything when Im done, but.. I need to finish the exterior first! my poor cars life is just starting

Replace all the plastic interior clips, they're cheap and will go a long way towards reducing rattles. Also be sure you put the interior back together correctly.

Make sure you kill all the rust before spraying on the undercoating... The undercoating won't stop the rust and it'll just keep eating away at the floor!

Damn that rust!!! Yeah, I got rust to man, and why the hell is that padding wet?? It hasn't rained here in a while! Well, I started sanding away at the drivers side floor area (Not making GREAT progress but at least theres no hole there). Rear passenger side however, is another story. In the Rear passenger foot rest area I have a crack, a rusty crack. Its not huge or anything, but its a crack none the less, so I gotta cut out around it and have somone weld in some replacement metal. Whats this POR 15 stuff I keep hearing about? Heh, I gotta go to work tomorrow, so I just went and bolted in a seat and a seat-belt Theres no law against having no carpet or Passenger seats, Right? What should I use to kill the rust for good, and what kinda paint can I use in there? Well, gotta take the dash out after I'm done with all this work on the floor, then I gotta order new Carpet, mine is NASTY. Well I'll keep ya posted as ta whats goin on!

You other guys/gals that are doing it as well, keep me posted to!

Yup, I used that too. Hope I did it right, though. I've read about a metal prep that supposed to be used before the paint, but it was too late already. Do a search for por15, there are several posts here about it.

If you wan't sound deadening get Dynamat. Not only is it a sound deadener but it is heated and seals completely with the metal. On the down side once it is on it DOESN'T come off. Check out DJSexey's site he did Dynamat Xtreme all over his car. It looks really good too.

we could probably get into a discussion bout this for days, but dynomat Xtreme is the best u can get. but it would cost u bout $1k to do the whole car ($250 retail per bulk pack and u need at least 4 for the whole car). rammat is alot cheaper and will give close to the same results for a lot less.. u could double rammat and still be cheaper than dynomat and get the same results if u really wanted to.

check that out for the comparision DJSexy did between dynomat and rammat.
