Ground Effects Package vs. None
Ground Effects Package vs. None
Well, I know I'm gonna be in the minority on this one but does anyone else prefer the look of a Camaro without the ground effects package? I think that they can actually look better than the fancied up models. Anyone, anyone?

That is exactly the reason I do not prefer the T/A's over Firebirds, they seem so overdone with the GFX, I don't mind it, don't get me wrong, I do not think they look bad. If there was an equally equiped Formula and a T/A sitting next to each other I would take the Formula, because I like the absence of the GFX..
I guess thats why GM made different models, for different folks...

the whole reason my final decision was made when purchasing a 3rdgen, 4thgen's don't have the style and neither do the irocs. not that i don't like either. again, i guess it's all in the eye of the beholder........but i tend to think it looks good.

IROC'S are a step above Z-28's and came with everything and more than regular Z's.

3rd gen camaros look ALOT better w/ gfx.. IMO the 91-92 gfx look better than the 85-90 gfx.. kinda off topic, but the 4th gens look like $hit w/ gfx..

I wouldn't want one without em. They just look like they're missing something. They look like those cheap camaro ber... things. Yeah their a pain to work around, and add an extra complication to body work, but in the end they really spice things up.

A camaro without a body kit is like a **** star having no sex. Its just not right O_o haha...I love the look with the body kit...just cant stand it without one. The camaro is a very logn car...to long atcually...the body kit helps the car look taller and also more dropped. Also wider. By making it look wider and taller the car looks shorter.

My beater Camaro is Gunmetal Grey straight out of the Duplicolor can ($35 worth). The back bumper is off a grey 84 Berlinetta.
Stuart.. I do think the 91-92 fx are some of the best looking made but, I personally wouldn't want them and, it would take waaay more than gfx for that pile of ___ to 'be set'.
Gfx to me is sort of like black paint... it's nice to look at but, I don't care to own it (my bird used to be black so I know..). I'm starting to wish I had never put the gfx on my 'bird and just went with a 91-92 front... it's little late to change my mind now though

Does anybody else think that Camarofreak85s car looks pretty cool with a black sailpanel ala the newer Z28s? I kinda like that.
On the original question: I could care less. A Camaro is a Camaro is a Camaro. They all have potential to look good whether or not they have a particular appearance package or color or driveline in them. If they're taken care of and the owner obviously cares for and has put a lot of work into it, it's a 10 in my book. If someone just has money and has forked out a lot of it to have all the work done or just buys a finished car then shows it as "his own", I don't have an inkling of respect for that.

deadbird,
1.) You need to fix the link to your site, delete the thirdgen part
2.) Once I got to you site, I found that you are Putting Handles on from An Intepid, i wanted to do just that (Either Intipedid or Malibu Handles, cant decide which, only ones Ive seen so far that look good and are flush like I want)
3.) Lovin the Tans Am, your camaro doesn't even compare, no wonder your talking down on it

camarofreak,
I like what you have done by painting the top of the caar black. I have considered doing that to my formula, but just painting around the windshield.

to this:

I'm really surprised that the Camaro without ground effects has gotten as many votes as it has. I like them for two reasons: I think ground effects and stuff usually looks pretty cheesy because it's clear that it's just added on to the body as opposed to being part of the original style; also, the Camaros without groud effects are more practical in the sense that you don't have to worry about scraping the front air dam on everything in your path. I agree that the G.E. package makes the car look a lot "tougher", but I kind of like the clean ones...

The non FX cars have much more "style" to them than the Z28's IMO,.......
The ground effects package only looked good in 91-92 when they actually had a function (brake cooling) and were not just dead wieght on the car. (I'm sure you can all feel the aerodynamics of those ground effects - NOT)
my opinion about the camaro FX (best-to-worst) :
1) no Effects
2) 91-92 Z effects
3) 82-84 effects
4) 85-90 effects
