Got lotsa creaks and squeaks...suggestions?

Summer's alsmost here, and with it comes lots of driving. College is on its way and my car needs some work.

You know what I'm talking about...the dash, it shakes...the car seems to twist and make noise.

What have you used to correct creaks and squeaks? What's your experience with SFCs? What about Strut Tower Braces? New Bushings? More suspension work?

Give me ideas. I'm game for just about anything that will stop my car from sounding like it's 50 years old and rotten...when it most definitely is not.

GM used foam between rattling or squeeking interior components. Try to find where it's going from EXACTLY and take it apart and place foam at the assembly points.

That's crazy!! I thought it was a fluke job my Dad used an ear plug to stop his dash from moving.

But back to the point...I've also got the cracks starting in the corners of the windows and need some structural stability so the car will last well into the future. Any ideas?

Install Spohn Sub Frame Connectors. Then repair the door hinges. That should correct your squeaks. It did on my '82 Z28.

Hey Andy, what's the latest word/price on your door hinge parts? I'm thinking of getting those and letting a body shop install them for me.

Sphon the definite way to go. I agree. I just hope I can get some, with all the demand he has since he shut down shop.

The UPPER door hinge repair kits have proven to be a big hit. Much more of a success that I had anticipated.

Here is the price info. 1kit to do one UPPER door hinge is $62.40+$2.40 shipping&handling ($64.80 total).

We have a special offer that I can't seem to remove due to the demand. If you buy 2 UPPER door hinge repair kits. I will include the Genuine GM Parts LOWER door hinge pin&bushings for both doors free FREE! Almost all sales are for this 2 kit offer.

I have recieved much positive feed back from users as well.=>

is typical.

I haven't done the STB or the door hinges yet, (I'm going to get around to it this summer) but if you feel confident taking your interior apart, rip everything out and stuff foam anywhere things can possibly move, or anywhere you can put it This is what I did. I used pieces from an old foam mattress and it made a night and day difference. Especially concentrate on areas under the dash pad and behind the plastic interior panels.

Much of the squeaking you hear is due to the body flexing any wat it wants to. The car is actually disintigrating with those squeaks. I fixed my '82 Z28 T-top car. I now have no squeaks.

Disentigrating.... That's what I'm worried about. You will soon be receiving my business Andy. And don't dare take away the two set deal! Thanks for the advice guys. Mid May = SFCs, Strut Tower Brace, and Andy's pin & bushing kits. Early Summer = Full interior teardown to fix aggrivatin rattles.

Got a new question:

Does any of your noses (on the cars of course) hang like an inch or inch 1/2 low? Mine does, and it even meets up with the fenders. I'm hoping a body shop can adjust this. To give an idea, the foglights in the front end up having about an inch of empty space underneath them and they are being rubbed by the nose of the car on the sides closest to the license plate. Kindof confusing, but if you've had the problem...you'll know what I'm talking about.

Thanks guys

Normally I'd agree with you. But...

Go look at his site!

It's pure quality product...stuff you and I wouldn't be able to get our hands on. Not to mention the FREE deal he's got going on. I've had door hinges worked on before (on my old 92 Firebird) and the body shop had to buy a complete hinge assembly from another make of car and use the parts from that to fix my doors. More money doing that than just buying the parts and letting them install it. Overall, it's a good value. He's got a good procuct that people, other than myself, have faith in. Because really, what is peace of mind really worth?

I'll let you decide that last one.

SFC's, STB's, tighten stuff inside the doors, go around with a screwdriver and torx and tighten everything possible.
