If it makes you feel any better my Camaro was vandalized by someone at work. The kid was not very bright, and told me in school he was going to key my car. Well, sure enough it happens, and hes surprised I turned him in. Well, he was working at the time and I had the oppurtunity to have him fired and press charges. This person was seriously not smart, so i just said I'll take $80 and forget about it. Well, my boss thought it was a rip-off, so I had to go get an estimate on the damage. Well, it came out to $262.73. I got paid that much, the kid apologized and it never happened again. People need to realize things like placing shopping cart on top of peoples cars is not humourous, as one of my friends did. It's a good thing it was him, otherwise I wouldve pressed charges, as it was the second time in a week my car was vandalized.

This happened to me while I was at work. They got in the car, split the steering column and then found out that the car would not start because of the VATS system. The funny thing was is that they cleaned all the broken pieces up before they left. When this happens, the parking lot owner will not take any responsibility and leave it all up to you to deal with the situation. I had to call my Dad and have him pull me up to the closest dealership. Insurance covered it but I still had to pay the deductable. Make sure that you ALWAYS keep your VATS system working!!! As mad as you are when it happens, it is best you just get it fixed and move on. It is easier said than done!

Vandalism

I know how you feel. I bought my T/A from my brother in San Antonio. It was stolen twice when he had it. Just went joy ridin' in it and stole the radio. Smashed up the console and radio pod. Split the neoprene wing with a blade just to add insult to injury.

Keep the alarm armed, and when traveling disable the hot lead to the distributor. Just a few seconds under the hood may keep you from walking.

The little orange wire in my Steering Column that has to do with the VATS system split in two and the car would not start. After a couple of weeks of figuring this out, I took an ohm and deleted the VATS from the fuse box. Then I fixed it right when I had the money. When my car tried to get stolen the VATS was the only thing that saved it. $700 could have saved a whole lot more frustration!!

"VANDELISM"

My guess is that these punks that key a nice T/A or a Z, get very upset upon seeing nice shiny paint, they get upset that the crap they drive is covered in shades of grey and red primer and every one should be driving primered cars and then every ones equal.

A few months ago, a buddy of mine who owns a '71 chevelle had his car broken into. Not only that they broke into his house only taking his mothers jewelry and taking his car keys to the Velle.
The really stupid part was that they got inside the car, ( driver side door opens even if you lock it) and banged up the ignition on the steering column. I guess using the keys never crossed their mind......?

As fate would have it my friend found out who the guy was. Knowing who he was he caught him with a couple of his buddies at a gas station and followed him to a house they stopped at where my friend approached him telling him "you really F@#k'ed up by breaking into my house even worse trying to take my car"
The guy who was 17 o 18 years of age denied everything, but his friends who bragged at school made it possible. For the record the kid has a criminal record for theft, and is on probation for other charges, not this one.

about two years ago i had a 79 Full size Blazer that i was in the process of redoing. my back window never locked so i used to back into this big pine tree i backed in as far as i could go ( till the bumper touched the tree). I went out with my sister in her car and when we got home she noticed my interior light was on when i went to turn it off i noticed my my driver side seat was loose when i look under it my amp was gone so i climb in all the way to the back to find my speaker box was also missing so i called the cops to file a report they came and basically told me i was f**ked to boot they used my tools to take the amp out and kept them. BASTARDS I hope that their car catches fire and burns to the ground and that they have no insurance too

I beleive that a custom allarm shop can install those for you. Or you can save yourself some cash and do it yourself. I like the kind where you press the button on the key ring deal and it rolls up the windows and locks the doors for you. Very cool

There was this kid around here that liked to write on my windows with window chalk. he would do it where ever i was...at my GF's, wall mart, where ever. Well finally i caught him, took the window chalk (it was the liquid stuff) and broke it open inside his dodge truck. well, he hasnt done it again and we're good friends still. I also told him that the next time it happens im just gonna file a report and list all the names of anyone who has done it b4. It's not like it hurt anything, but how would you feel if you spent 3 hours washing your car to go pimp your **** that night with your woman and someone writes "gay" and "I love men" on your windows, and completely colors in your side windows with yellow window paint? I almost killed him!

does anyone know of a way to rig a car alarm up to a pager or something? I've seen this mentioned before but I don't know how to do it, or where to buy it. The idea of catching a dirty bastard in the act is heaven to me.

I personally just don't see why someone would go through all the trouble to mess up someone else's car. Bad karma! I look at it like this: If someone has a problem with me, come to me, don't go to my car or my kids. At least i can defend myself. Of course, if I actually CATCH someone messing with my car or my kids, they would wake up in the hospital, if they wake up at all!

At a local car audio stor called "CarTrendz" they sell a kickass system by CompuStar that has a mobile PDA with lotsa cool gatgets, too many to list and full color LCD , its like $500 and i have seen people drive halfway accross the country to have them install it! thats crazy! I'm sure other places sell this system.

They also sell a system called the K40 (its like $1200 ) that literally prevents the cops from getting a lock on you, so they CANNOT get a radar on you. I don't know if its bogus or not.

Yea man thats some ****. Usually its some Jealous jerk. Ive heard of people who smoked someone in a street race, then they get mad cause the lost and damage the other persons car

The times I drive my car, and where I keep it, the chances of it getting vandalized are slim to none.

I feel sorry for the person vandalizing my car if I catch them.

Since I work at Best Buy they give us a nice little discount on car stuff. So I put a 500 dollar alarm system with remote start on my car. But still, if I catch any SOB messin' with my car, they're gonna get a face full of buckshot.

When I bought my car two years ago, it had scratch marks up by the ttops and some damaged weatherstripping by the drivers side door. Some idiot had tried to take it. I got it painted so, thats gone, but only to get replaced with something else. A month after I got the paint job, I'm at a gas station, putting in gas, when I look at my spoiler, and there is a key mark about 6 inches long across it. I wanted to Kill someone! I spend $1500 on paint ( i'm in school and work part time, so money is a problem) and some f***** comes and keys my car! I don't know who it was, and no one has ever given me reason to think it was anyone i know, so I'm guessing it was someone at random.
If I ever catch anyone even trying to touch my car, I don't think I can make myself stop beating the crap out of someone until I am tired, and I'm in pretty good shape.

fyi - an alarm is just a sound, it ain't gonna stop anybody from stealing your car, some of those guys are proffessionals and can get in and out of your car like a knife though butter

Im going to rig up a switch that will be sliced into the fuel pump line, slimply turn the switch the car will start, then die off. Not every body will toe a stolen car, but this still has flaws, that few seconds that the car is running could put the car into dangoruos area, like high traffic where it could get hit, no thife would then try to find the switch, they might get outrages and trash everything in sight though,

Just want to point out that there is nothing you can do to keep a thief from taking or vandelizing your car, except for my friend Tommy, as in Gun...witnesses, What Witnesses? :lala:

My friends 2001 blazer extreme (which is the only one I know of in the entire area we live in) had the lug nuts loosened on one of the rear tires. the thing fell off will he was at the local cruise and shot across the street knocking on someones door. Destroyed the rim, tire, fender trim, rear bumper cover, rotor and some other stuff. Over $1300 in damage and he ended up paying for about $700 of it because of the $500 deductible and they made him pay for part of the new tire because the old one was used. he was only going 25 mph when it fell off. If he was on the highway, he may have been killed. And there aint jack **** you can do about it. What a ****ed up world we live in.

face it some people are just @ssholes and there is nothing we can do about it.
I've come to the conclusion through my almost 20 years on this planet that MOST people are dicks, not just some people. And frankly I'm not sure I ever want to bring a child of my own into existance to experience this for itself.

another example:
yesterday I saw a mentally disabled woman on the side of the road by a company building trying to waive someone down for help. She was wearing a t-shirt and it was getting cold out. A hundred cars must've driven by before I stopped. She only wanted to use a cell phone for a few seconds to call someone to unlock the building because she accidentally locked herself out when she was taking out the trash. She worked there as a cleaning lady. a few minutes of my time and I was back on my way, feeling good about helping someone.

Anyway, I guess this is non-tech. Whatever.

Man, why aren't there more people like you? This world could use them. How hard is it to stop for a few minutes to let the lady use the phone? I woulda stopped too. I don't have a cell phone, but I woulda got her one to use....but I guess that comes from being a boy scout for like 10 years. Still woulda done it even if I wasn't a scout though. When my truck broke down I had to wait almost 30 min to get someone to stop, and this was a major high way too. I finally had to run out in the middle and then they just swerved around me! I finally got this colored gentleman to stop and he gave me a ride into town. We're good friends now too. See what comes out of helping some one?

Cause we'd all be in trouble, lol.

I guess I was just really angry about my car and some people the other day when I wrote that message. but sometimes I really feel like that.

Anyone got any prozac? j/k
